COD Next 2023 is set to take place later this week and features the debut gameplay of Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer and a brand new Warzone map.

Modern Warfare 3 is rapidly approaching with the COD Next 2023 showcase set to kick things off this Thursday, October 5, before the Modern Warfare 3 beta begins the next day on Friday, October 6 (at least for those with Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders). However, COD Next will give players their first look at the multiplayer gameplay for Modern Warfare 3 that will be present in the upcoming beta.

Activision has confirmed some of what we'll be seeing during the event via a Tweet on the @CallofDuty account. First and foremost we'll be seeing the debut of Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer footage, and based on last years presentation, we'll be seeing a number of streamers playing the game, giving us our first look at the remastered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 maps.

We'll also get our first look at the brand new Warzone map which is set to debut shortly after the launch of Modern Warfare 3. The new Warzone map is likely coming with Modern Warfare 3 Season 1, which is expected to arrive in December 2023 based on previous games' release content release schedules. Also confirmed is a gameplay trailer for Modern Warfare 3's Zombies mode, as well as a look at some new features included in the upcoming Warzone Mobile.

COD Next start time, how to watch and Twitch Drops

COD Next 2023 is taking place on Thursday, October 5 at 5pm BST / 12pm EDT / 9am PDT and will be streamed live on the official Call of Duty YouTube and Twitch accounts:

  • COD Next Showcase Event on YouTube
  • Call of Duty on Twitch

The event will be streamed simultaneously on both platforms, so just pick your service of choice. Activision hasn't announced how long the stream will last, but last year's event was just over five hours long, so it's best to expect a similar runtime this year.

The COD Next showcase will be offering Twitch Drops and YouTube Rewards, giving viewers the chance to nab some bonus items for Modern Warfare 3. These items are as follows:

  • Death Upload Weapon Blueprint
  • Bot Ops Charm
  • Robotic Gamer Emblem
  • Curve Monitor Calling Card

Activision hasn't announced how long you'll need to watch for to unlock these items, but they'll all be available on both YouTube and Twitch.
