Ed Sheeran revealed he once got so stoned with pal Snoop Dogg that he totally lost his vision for a while.

The singer met up with the weed-loving rapper at one of his live shows in Melbourne back in March. They decided to have some down time after and were joined by Aussie actor Russell Crowe. The Drop It Like It's Hot hit-maker clearly came well equipped and Ed couldn't say no.

He said he's always wanted to light up with Snoop even though he very rarely smokes and speaking on the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast, he said it didn't end as he expected and was left unable to see. Snoop, who lives in California where recreational marijuana use is legal, made a decision 2016 to employ a full-time joint roller and he came in handy earlier this year.

Ed said: "I’ve sort of got quite close friends with Russell Crowe over the years and he is really close with Snoop Dogg. I don’t really smoke at all but I was in the dressing room and they were just like blunt for blunt for blunt for blunt. I was like, I guess at some point during the night, I have to, just to say I smoked with Snoop Dogg.

"He was like 'Do you want some?' so I have a bit and I was like, I don’t feel too bad, this is good. Then I have a bit more, and then I have a bit more, and then I have a bit more. I just remember looking at him and being like, I can’t see right now."

Ed's certainly on a high right now as he banked a £10million pay rise. The singer paid himself £18.3million last year, up from £8.4million in 2021. Latest figures for the 32-year-old’s music empire reveal a turnover of £89million since 2019. That does not include nearly half of the 90 dates on his sell-out 2022/23 global tour.

The figures also don’t count sales of his sixth album – (Subtract) or new release Autumn Variations. A source said: “Ed is going from strength to strength. He’s one of the biggest stars on the planet and these numbers back that up.”

Annual accounts sent to Companies House reveal Ed Sheeran Ltd has £52million in its coffers. It turned over £23.6million in 2022, £34.1million in 2021 and £31.6million in 2019. Ed’s profit for those years totalled £65million, with a big chunk coming from sales of his 2021 album = (Equals).

The papers also show he will pay £3.1million in corporation tax. And the ex-busker has handed huge sums to good causes, including £1million to help kids learn music. He has said: “It’s like, earn a penny, spend a penny with me. I don’t have that much value on it. I have more value on my friends and family being OK.”
