Conor McGregor backtracks on KSI fight call as he explains London incident

Conor McGregor has explained that his callout of YouTube boxing star KSI at Anthony Joshua's recent comeback fight was no more than "a bit of craic".

The Irishman took to the microphone after watching Anthony Joshua knock out Robert Helenius to take aim at KSI, demanding a bare-knuckle boxing match with the Brit. He declared that the social media sensation couldn't "box eggs if he worked in an egg boxing factory" in multiple interviews, and attempted to get physical at ringside while celebrating with Joshua.

But the YouTube star left the event early and played off the fight, despite later saying that he was "interested". But speaking with Mirror Fighting at the launch of Forged Irish Stout at Jack's Bar in London, McGregor explained that he is less than intrigued by the fight, and is more keen on his UFC comeback against Michael Chandler.

"Ah he was there, it was just a bit of craic," McGregor said when asked why he had called out the YouTube boxer, who faces Tommy Fury next week in Manchester. "Im not interested." In a later interview with Seconds Out, he noted that he keeps his eye on the YouTube boxing scene, but views them as "side hustles" and "nixers"; an Irish word for such.

McGregor is likely to appear at KSI's fight with Tommy Fury in support of his teammate and friend Dillon Danis, who faces Logan Paul in the night's double main event. But he admitted that he may struggle to make it to Manchester with his busy schedule, which includes training for his own fight.

Asked again by Mirror Fighting if he will be in attendance at the AO Arena to support Danis, he replied "Maybe, we'll see. It's a busy schedule plus I have my own fight lined up, so I can't guarantee anything."

He didn't want to get into the weeds of his teammate and Paul's back-and-forth, which has seen Danis hit with a $150,000 lawsuit by the YouTuber's fiancee Nina Agdal. But he did admit that it has been "an interesting build-up," and added: "It’s exciting and fair play to both of them.”
