Tupac Shakur murder suspect Duane "Keefe D" Davis was arrested and charged with the murder of the rapper last week.

Sources now reveal that before his shocking arrest for the 1996 crime, Davis allegedly bragged about his involvement in the case, having previously publicly admitted that that he provided the gun that was used in the drive-by shooting, but police were never able to pin the crime on him.

Davis was reportedly planning to organise tours of the Las Vegas strip as a limo driver where he would go into detail about the moments of the fatal night for paying customers. He also "openly mocked" the prospect of justice in the case and "almost went into hyperdrive talking and boasting about his role in the death".

"He felt that the police were never going to take action against him two decades after the killing," the source told the US Sun, before claiming that he said: "The police ain't gonna do s**t."

The insider added that Keefe would allegedly be at parties and events "enjoying the limelight of being considered the man who knew the secrets of how Tupac passed." He also told friends and associates that he had a "longstanding deal" that would "protect him from prosecution," the source claims.

"Keefe's foolish attitude got him in trouble and his lack of knowledge of the law may have cost him his freedom," they continued. "Las Vegas Metro Police had not taken that much of an interest in the Tupac case for many years because they thought could not find compelling enough evidence to move forward.

"But Keefe's own boasts and comments led to him becoming a person of interest for Metro and then detectives discussed with the DA whether those comments could help them seek a prosecution."

The source concluded that Keefe "ignored" police who tried to contact him and when detectives were sent round to talk to him, he allegedly said: "'You ain't got nothing on me' and that's why they have taken this action."

Davis was arrested Friday morning while walking by his home in Henderson, Nevada. Clark County District Judge Jerry Wiese denied the former Crip gang member bail. Reportedly, a grand jury has been hearing evidence against Davis for months.

In a news conference, the Clark County Sheriff Kevin McMahill said: "For 27 years the family of Tupac Shakur has been waiting for justice. While I know there’s been many people who did not believe that the murder of Tupac Shakur was important to this police department, I’m here to tell you that is simply not the case.”

Johansson added that the investigators had to act now. They "knew this was likely our last time to take a run at this case to successfully solve this case and bring forth a criminal charge.”
