Shocking footage shows the moment a driver smashed a van with his cricket bat in a road rage attack.

The dashcam footage, taken from a nearby vehicle on the residential street, shows a silver people carrier stopped at a junction. A van, also silver, is stopped at right angles just a few yards in front.

Just a couple of seconds later, the fuming man races to the boot of his car before grabbing out a cricket bat and racing across the road. The van driver attempts to make a speedy getaway as man whacks the back of the silver vehicle.

He then shouts out in frustration after the row as the van pulls away. It is not known what caused the argument, which was caught on camera on Friday September 29 in Southall, west London. Responding to the footage after it was posted online, one driver said: "If that was my van he hit I would have stopped and got out", while one wicket-minded social media user wrote: "That's LBW." The Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment.

Last week, alarming footage captured a different foul-mouthed driver hurling abuse at a mum alone in her car in a horrific road rage row. The clip, which has gone viral, shows the man press his face against a window of the car and brand the driver a "f***ing sl**". Another man, out of shot, tries to calm the motorist who insists he "just wanted to make a point".

The woman's daughter, Becky Ryan, posted the video on Facebook and appealed for information about the incident which is said to have been filmed on August 25th. She wrote: "Anyone know this vile, disgusting, pathetic excuse of a human who decided to verbally abuse my Mum at Tesco Bournemouth Castle Lane Petrol Station last Friday?"
