Conor McGregor admits he hasn't trained with Dillon Danis for Logan Paul fight

Conor McGregor has confirmed that he was unable to train with Dillon Danis as he would have liked ahead of his fight with Logan Paul next month.

The Irishman is close friends with Danis, and the pair have worked together in the lead-up to their fights for years. But the American recently welcomed his first baby, and as such had to stay in New York where he has been spotted sparring with the likes of Alex Pereira among others.

McGregor is currently pushing for his own octagon return, and recently put together a training camp in Cannes where he brought along select teammates including UFC star Kiefer Crosbie and Bellator's Ciaran Clarke. And while he wanted to bring Danis out, the birth of his new baby made the logistics impossible.

“Dillon’s going to win, Dillon will win,” McGregor told this week at the London launch of his Forged Irish Stout in Jack's Bar. “He had the baby, we didn’t get to train together. So, I don’t know the ins and outs. I know he’s doing well, he’s still training and he’s going to go for it. He’s had a baby, he had a new baby so I tried to bring him out. Dillon’s good.”

Danis has attracted a massive audience to his fight with Paul, which takes place on October 14, after a lengthy trolling campaign towards the YouTube star. But after dragging in his rival's fiancee Nina Agdal, the model has launched a $150,000 lawsuit against the fighter that has marred the build-up.

McGregor opted to steer clear of commenting on the legalities, but added: “It’s messy all of that. I don’t care about it." He then noted that he will "possibly" attend the fight, which he also claimed "has had an interesting build-up." "It’s exciting, he said. "And fair play to both of them.”

The Irishman is less bullish than he was a month ago when asked about the fight on the Matchroom Boxing YouTube channel. At the time, he said: "Dillon will win for sure. They're already back-tracking right now, they awoke an animal. I know Dillon years, I've trained him many times, I've helped him and I'm guiding him, I'm going to train him for this and I'm going to guarantee a win.

"I hope the lad shows up, they're trying to put a bill on us if we don't show up but we're going to come at him with a bill if he don't show up. For sure I'm getting into camp myself after this so when that's organised I'm going to bring Dillon in and make sure and just monitor it. I was training with him while I was in New York.

"I was in New York for about a month or so, I was training with him, he's in a great space mentally. He built himself up, he was in a bad spot but he's built himself back up and now he's in a great spot, so it's great to see and I back him all the way. I've trained with him, I know he's got this."
