Telly host Jeremy Kyle and his wife Victoria suffered a devastating miscarriage before falling pregnant with their longed-for second child.

The TalkTV presenter, 58, shared the happy news this week that he is expecting his sixth child – joking he is catching up with ex-PM Boris Johnson. But the couple’s journey to expand their brood has been an “emotional rollercoaster” after they sadly lost a baby in March. It was the second miscarriage the couple had endured – they also lost a baby at nine weeks before conceiving Oliver, now three, in 2019.

Speaking of their loss for the first time, Vic told how she was eight weeks’ pregnant when doctors delivered the crushing news they couldn’t find their baby’s heartbeat at an early scan. Vic, 40, who wed Jeremy in 2021, said: “It was devastating. People say, ‘It’s so early, it’s just a bunch of cells’, but as a woman you can’t help but get attached to what’s going on in your body.”

They endured further turmoil when Vic was booked in for a procedure to remove the foetus but they were told there was a heartbeat after all. After an agonising week’s wait, doctors confirmed the pregnancy wasn’t viable. Jeremy, who survived testicular cancer in 2013, said: “The second miscarriage was the hardest for Vic. Because we’d had one before, we tried not to get excited. It was an emotional rollercoaster.” After going through the trauma a second time, the couple decided not to try again for a child, and relocated from London to the coast for a fresh start.

But when Vic had reiki healing to help her move on, she said she got a message from Jeremy’s late mum Nanette – who died six years ago aged 85 after suffering dementia – telling her they would have a baby girl.

Vic said: “The lady kept saying she could see pink and we were going to have a girl. She said, ‘I can see you holding a little girl’s hand with Oliver. The little girl has got a dress on that has bright red roses all over it. Jez’s mum’s favourite flower was a red rose – she had red roses everywhere in her garden. It felt like that was his mum saying there’s going to be a little girl coming along.”

Jeremy added: “Fast forward – and this will freak you out – we’ve moved to the coast and Vic’s ordered loads of duvet sets and pillows from Next and in the middle, unordered, was a pair of girls’ pink dungarees with red roses all over them. There weren’t any clothes in this order.”

By this point, Vic had already fallen pregnant with their ‘rainbow baby’ girl – the term for a child born after a miscarriage – who is due next year. She will join brother Oliver and Jeremy’s kids from his previous relationships, Harriet, 33, Alice, 19, Ava, 18, and Henry, 14.

To critics who reckon he’s too old to be a dad again, Jeremy said: “Age is just a number. To be honest, I think Oliver will benefit with not being able to rule the whole house. I was taking him to school this morning, and he was like ‘Excuse me, I’m speaking!' Whatever happened in my past, I met this amazing woman who helped me get back on my feet and is my rock and she wanted kids. She’s an incredible mother.”

Jeremy, best known for his long-running talk show on ITV, will pair up with ex-Coronation Street actress Nicola Thorp, 34, to launch breakfast show Talk Today tomorrow. On how he’ll cope with early starts with a newborn, he quipped: “I’m lucky cos I get two nights a week in a hotel.” Confirming their family is now complete, he said: “I think I’ve got enough to carry my coffin now.”

Talk Today starts on TalkTV on Monday, airing from 6am to 9.30am
