Laurence Fox has finally admitted he went too far in his rant about a female journalist following his suspension from GB News and amid growing public backlash.

Earlier this week, political journalist Ava Evans spoke about about men's mental health and suicide on BBC's Politics Live show, which led the former actor to launch a vile tirade of abuse towards her while on GB News. In his vicious rant, Laurence mocked Ava and publicly humiliated her, by posing the question: "Who'd want to shag that?" And at the time, despite show host Dan Wooton taking to social media to apologise for Laurence's comments, the father of two stood firm and justified his abusive language - until now that is.

Laurence spoke out in response to controversial US journalist Megyn Kelly who told him she supported his actions. "I listened to the whole segment. You were mad she so easily wrote off the epidemic of men’s suicide, which she absolutely did. She sounded heartless. You were making the point of how unattractive it made her to you. You didn’t use the Queen’s English but what she said was far uglier," wrote Megyn.

Laurence wrote back: "Thanks Megyn. I could and should have dialled down the bar room banter, but I have lost male friends to suicide, and her dismissal of male mental health is very upsetting to anyone who has experienced such tragedy. We live. We learn," he added.

The ex Gogglebox star posted his message alongside an emoji of a pair of hands in prayer. This comes just one day after he took to Twitter to say that he was standing firm in his opinion as he has every right to do so.

He wrote: "I stand by every word of what I said. If a woman wants to go on television and belittle male suicide, she is totally within her rights to do so and not apologise, just as I am totally within my rights to say that I wouldn’t want to shag a hyper offended 4th wave feminist and not apologise, just as people are totally within their rights to be offended by my stating I would run a mile in the opposite direction from women like her, should our paths cross in a bar."

He added: "It’s called free speech. I realise that the new woke world is low on laughter and high on offence, but it’s still worth trying to find the lighter moments in this joyless new cancel culture which has been created for us. This lady has said on air that she wants men to be 'frightened' and 'terrified'. Tumbleweed from the media at her premeditation and malevolence. Because it’s not a man saying it. Which rather proves my point."

He then said: "You are totally entitled to find my mockery of the insane hypocrisy in this world not to your taste, but that’s me, and I will continue to be me, as a wise man once said “Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.” So you keep trying to cancel away in your state of permanent offence, I’ve been cancelled already and may well be again, but I don’t care one bit, and I will keep defending my right to have an opinion on issues which concern me."

The Lewis actor, who was once married to actress Billie Piper, left no stone unturned when he launched his attack on Ava. At the time he told GB News host Dan Wooton: "We're past the watershed so I can say this… show me a single, self-respecting man that would like to climb into bed with that woman… ever… ever. That little woman has been fed... spoon-fed oppression day after day after day, starting with the lie about the gender pay gap. She's sat there, and I'm going like, if I met you at a bar and that was like sentence three, chances of me just walking away are just huge."

He then said: "We need powerful, strong, amazing women who make great points for themselves. We don't need these feminist 4.0. They're pathetic and embarrassing. Who'd want to shag that?"
