A sick taxi driver subjected a teenager to a sexual assault after he picked her up outside of a nightclub - minutes after talking to the victim's mother on the phone.

Motosir Ali, 42, spoke to the teenager's mum on the phone, who agreed to pay for the trip, when her daughter was dropped off at the property. Instead of driving her there, Ali took her to a remote location and attempted to kiss her and bit her lip before he groped her breasts and sexually assaulted her.

But the father of three was jailed last week for six years and three months at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault. Detectives have praised the victim's bravery and that of a witness, who was able to get a partial registration of Ali’s vehicle following the incident.

Staffordshire Police also released a mugshot of shamed Ali who, the court heard, was found by officers within a short period of time of the attack and he was arrested. The dad, who is from Bradeley, Stoke-on-Trent, was caged last Monday, reports Birmingham Live.

Detective Sergeant Daniel Martin, who dealt with the case, said: "I want to thank the survivor for her exceptional bravery in supporting this investigation and making sure Ali faces justice. He was in a position of trust and abused that position to commit his offending."

The defendant picked up the teenager in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, in January this year and subjected her to the vile attack in the car in the remote location minutes later.

Det Sergt Martin continued: "Thanks to the vigilance of the witness who helped to identify his vehicle, we were able to track him down quickly and arrest him. I hope this serves as an example to survivors that we are committed to pursuing offenders and delivering justice. We want survivors to know that they can speak to specially-trained officers in confidence who will do everything possible to put those responsible behind bars."
