TV star Jane McDonald has revealed that she has ventured into another realm of the industry after landing a new quiz show.

This comes on the back of the 60 year old's announcement that she has stepped away from presenting her Channel 5 travel show. The pilot show, named Pyramid, is a quiz show format and was recorded at MediaCity studios in Manchester.

But the hour-long episode will not be broadcast on television just yet and a full series has not been commissioned. Jane, who is best known for her singing voice and hosting travel shows, confirmed reports by website Brother's Bar, after posting a picture of her backstage.

She was pictured alongside The Chase star Jenny Ryan and presenter Des Clarke for an Instagram photo. The quiz show is already being shown in the US and its format is set around three teams who compete against each other to win a jackpot prize.

Each team is made up of one celebrity and one civilian as they work hand in hand to win the prize and all they have to do to win, is describe words to each other - without revealing the word out loud. The TV star appeared on Loose Women earlier this month and told panelist Denise Welch the reason behind her decision to step away from presenting her travel show.

Jane has enjoyed a number of enviable experiences such as skinny dipping down Mount Fuji and winning a sumo wrestling match in a speciality restaurant. But she told Denise: "You don't just go to Japan you experience it and I did have the most… and everything works in Japan. Things are on time, and everything works. It's one of the best things I've ever done. It's just really a great pleasure to be able to do all of this amazing travel."

At that time, on September 7, Jane remained tight-lipped over her new venture. So when Denise asked her if she would rather be in Wakefield sipping on a cup of tea, the star replied: "Doritos and some garlic dip, that's me."

She added: "But no I have been so grateful to have done this amazing show and become a bit of a travel guru…a bit of a travel influencer. I am going to be sitting down for a little bit. I'm not going to be travelling for a short while now. " Jane admitted that she also wanted to spend time with her niece's son Eddie who was born last year. She continued: "He’s just beautiful. That’s why I can’t travel so much now. I need to see a bit more of that face. Little Eddie. Oh, I just love him! I could eat him he’s that gorgeous."
