John Lewis cuts cost of 'shocking' beauty balm that takes years off

With winter Christmas just around the corner, our skin is set to take a bit of a beating with the weather changes - clocks going back and the all round tiredness and dryness that winter brings. But with a plethora of skincare products at our fingertips, we can combat the look of fatigue and bring the sunshine back to our complexion with a few tried and tested lotions and potions - and one that is beloved by shoppers is Clarins' Beauty Flash Balm, which has 15% off at John Lewis until October 3, meaning it's £30 as opposed to the standard £36.

Using 96% natural ingredients, this balm claims to be a powerful cocktail that'll restore your youthful glow, reduce signs of fatigue and smooths out your skin (reducing the visibility or fine lines and wrinkles) thanks to its acerola seed, prickly pear extract and oat sugars. It's also been said to "miraculously" keep foundation in its place - a game changer for Christmas parties. And with over two thousand reviews, it's safe to say it seems to do the job pretty well as one shopper gave it five stars and said: "I love this product. On tired days it make my skin instantly brighter."

Another wrote: "This Beauty Balm is my No 1 favourite. Keeps my skin soft and healthy. A one-stop treatment."

One wrote: "This product is not the same, I will not buy it. Since 1996 I used this product, it's not the same," while another said: "Not a pleasant to use as the original. The scent is not pleasing, but I think the product still works. I also preferred the prior texture."

While some have been left disgruntled by the change, others are happy with Clarins' new formula - and if you're one of them, now's the time to snap up this offer from John Lewis. That being said, it's not the only miracle working balm on the market today - nor is it the cheapest.

A classic from No7, its Beauty Balm Tinted Skin Veil is a two-in-one with a tinted colouring and is formulated to hydrate, smooth, protect and even out your skin tone while reducing the look of pores. For £13.56, you can't go wrong. While this Miracle Balm from Revolution can be used on skin, hair and nails, it leaves skin "feeling great" and helps "make up stay on flawlessly". Plus, it's £6.40.

This Pixi Rose Flash Balm, available from M&S, doesn't only give lacklustre skin a bit of a boost, but the three-in-one balm works wonders as a primer before you put on your make up and smells like a bunch of roses. One beautified customer said: "Miracle balm that makes the skin feel soft, velvety and smooth. Skin feels fresh and alive ready for make-up."
