Colorado Buffaloes cornerback Trevor Woods got caught on camera wiping his shoes on the Oregon Ducks centerfield logo after arriving at Autzen Stadium.

Several Buffaloes players took to the field for a walk on the surface as the sun set in Eugene, Oregon, ahead of their game against the Ducks. Head coach Deion Sanders walked into the end zone, followed by his sons Shedeur and Shilo.

The Colorado quarterback later wandered onto the Oregon logo. As did his wide receiver teammates Jimmy Horn Jr. and Xavier Weaver, plus running back Sy’veon Wilkerson

However, Woods took things one step further after acknowledging the Well Off Media camera capturing their arrival. The junior looks down at the field before wiping his right foot three times on the logo as if it were a doormat.

The unsavoury scenes come less than a fortnight after Shedeur took umbrage with the Nebraska team doing something similar before playing the Buffaloes at Folsom Field. After describing that game as "extremely personal," the Colorado quarterback explained that they went "out there to warm up, and you got the head coach for the other team trying to stand in the middle of the Buff."

"It’s okay if a couple of players do it," he admitted, "it’s fine. Just enjoy the scenery, but when you’ve got a whole team trying to disrespect it, I’m not going for that at all, so I went in there and disrupted it.

Shedeur added: "The Buffaloes mean a lot to me. And, personally, that's when I knew it was just extreme disrespect."

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule did not take kindly to those claims, either. “No one’s gonna tell me who I am … I’m coaching this team with class," he said. "I know exactly who I am. I’ve never disrespected an opponent a day in my life, and I never will.”

These incidents are far from the first time that the topic of disrespecting a sports teams logos have arisen around a game. Less than 18 months ago, then-Brooklyn Nets player Kyrie Irving was at the centre of a similar furore after appearing to stamp on the Boston Celtics centre court logo.

The former Celtics player seemed to take particular exception to the face of Lucky the Leprechaun on the floor and drew the ire of fellow former players in the process. Kevin Garnett highlighted the act on Instagram, stating: "You can't do that".

Hall of Famer Robert Parish admitted on the same social media platform that it "irked" him seeing what Irving did. Cedric Maxwell called the act "classless" while speaking to the Boston Globe.

Glen Davis took it one step further by seemingly threatening Irving on Instagram, calling for him to stop the antics "before somebody gets hurt in real life". He also claimed that if "you step on Lucky, you step on everybody that played for that team." Presumably, that included Irving himself.
