Paul Hollywood's son 'snubbed' Great British Bake Off star's wedding
Paul Hollywood married for the second time this week – but it’s been reported his son Josh did not attend the wedding.
The Great British Bake Off judge tied the knot with pub landlady Melissa Spalding on Wednesday in a lavish ceremony at The Anassa hotel in Cyprus. But while 75 of Paul’s ‘closest’ friends and family – including co-star Prue Leith – were there, his 21-year-old son is believed to have been a no show.
Josh is Paul’s only child from his marriage to first wife Alex. The pair announced they were splitting in 2017 after Paul admitted having an affair with his American Bake Off co-star Marcela Valladolid.
After briefly reconciling, more affair rumours surfaced and the couple revealed they were to divorce. Confirming the reason for their split Alex, who has since made a name for herself as an Instagram cook, said: “My own marriage was too over-seasoned with extra marital affairs for my taste and so I opted out and chose the single menu instead.”
In a bit of a kick in the teeth Paul, 57, reportedly wed new wife Melissa, 39, in Cyprus – where he and ex Alex met in the 1990s. The resort where he got hitched is said to be where he and Alex used to holiday together in happier times.
GBBO's Prue Leith shares the big question all fans ask her about Channel 4 hitBack in 2019, a rep for Paul revealed Josh hadn’t spoken to his father in two years when he went on to date then 22-year-old barmaid Summer Monteys-Fullam shortly after splitting from ex-wife Alex.
They said at the time: "Paul hasn’t seen his son since November 2017 and the split has been deeply distressing to him. Paul is aware of his son’s feelings on the matter...Josh has behaved admirably over the past two years.”
Since 2019, baker Paul has been in a relationship with now wife Melissa, landlady of his local pub The Chequers in Spalding, Kent. But a friend is said to have confirmed to MailOnline that son Josh “did not go” to his wedding. The Mirror has reached out to Paul’s reps for further comment on this story.
Paul has been a judge on the Great British Bake Off since the series started back in 2010. Mary Berry was a judge until 2016, when Prue Leith took over. The current series is hosted by Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond, who recently replaced Matt Lucas.
With a new series of the show set to drop on Channel 4 next week, fans are getting excited for what is to come. A post from the official Bake Off Twitter account said: "Bake a date in your diaries. Join Paul, Prue, Noel and Alison on Tuesday 26th September for the return of . #GBBO."
And the show's die-hard fans were quick to respond. One wrote: "Just cried actual tears." Another said: "Yay I am ready!" A third wrote: "YAAAAAAAAASSSSS.
