A mum whose son has been charged with murder over the shocking and callous deliberate hit-and-run death of a cyclist has broken her silence and said "I don’t know if God can forgive this".

A judge ruled yesterday that the two teenage boys who recorded themselves deliberately mowing down retired police chief Adreas Probst, 64, by ramming into his back tire, sending him flying, will be tried as adults. Jesus Ayala, 18, and Jzamir keys, 16, were transported to Clarke County Detention Centre yesterday by the order of a family court judge. The pair's hearings were separate, according to the Clarke County district attorney's office.

Ayala's mother shared her thoughts on her son, the driver in the murder, committing the heinous act. She signalled that Ayala's conscience may never be cleared. “I don’t know why he did this,” she said. “I don’t know if God can forgive this.” Two of Key's relatives present at his hearing wept as Hearing Master Timothy Andrews sent the case to Justice Court.

Ayala's hearing was similar. As Hearing Master Randall Forman said he would send the case to Justice Court, a woman who declined to give her name covered her face as tears ran from her eyes. The two are scheduled to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court this afternoon, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Ayala's mum told 8NewsNow by text: "My son's side of the story will be told, 'the truth,' not the inaccuracies the media will try to portray."

In the mobile phone video, Ayala and Keys are heard snickering as they approached Andreas riding his mountain bike on an empty northwest Las Vegas highway last month.

One person in the car tells Ayala to "hit his a**," to which he happily obliges. The teen rammed his 2016 Hyundai Elantra into the back wheel of Andreas' bike, which sent him flying over the car. The teens recorded the 64-year-old retired cop lying on the ground mangled and twisted as they drove past. Chief Deputy District Attorney said during the hearings that both teens will face at least three charges: murder with a deadly weapon, battery and attempted murder.

Ayala, who was 17 at the time of the alleged murder, is more culpable. He will face an additional 15 charges including leaving the scene of an accident and numerous counts of larceny and burglary.

Watson said Ayala has an additional case in juvenile court for which he can be tried as an adult. The specific charges in the case are currently unclear.

Jason said police were made aware of the video last month when a high school student showed it to a school resource officer. This made police classify Andreas' death a homicide, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

During a press conference this week, Las Vegas Metro Police Lt Jason Johansson condemned the cruel act, casting it as "appalling" and "lacking morality."

This week, police said the teens may be responsible for additional vehicular crimes before killing Andreas. Authorities said the teens intentionally struck a 72-year-old man cycling through Fort Apache Road and then subsequently rammed into a white Toyota Corolla at Azure Drive and Tenaya Way.

Jason said the cyclist and the driver of the white Toyota sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
