Piers Morgan is still fuming after his showdown with "treacherous" Alex Beresford following their clash over Meghan Markle.

The presenters almost came to blows on Good Morning Britain in 2021 when Piers, 58, accused the Suits star, 42, of lying about her mental health when Meghan told Oprah Winfrey she'd had suicidal thoughts during her relationship with Prince Harry while she was pregnant.

Alex, 42, defended the Duchess of Sussex, telling the TalkTV star the mum-of-two had 'cut him off' following their 'short-lived friendship'. However, when the meteorologist slammed Piers for his "absolutely diabolical" behaviour, his rival dramatically walked out saying he was "done with this". Piers returned twenty minutes later accusing Alex of "launching a personal derogatory attack" on him - only to storm out again, this time for good.

Fast-forward two years and it appears Piers - who left GMB with immediate effect in March 2021 - is still not over the altercation. Opening up about his spat with Alex in May, he said: "I don’t mind a guest doing that but I do object to someone who had asked to come on the show, who was on the team, who then makes a very personal attack on me."

Describing his thought process during the fiery debate he continued: "And so at that moment, I thought there are two things that are going to happen here. Either I’m going to lose my rag and do something I regret – or I’m going to go and walk off. I don’t like to think about what I would have done. I was certainly looking at him thinking 'Yeah I better leave the room.'" He then added: "Just for the record, I think he was a treacherous little p***k. So he can say what he likes about me. He absolutely has a right to his opinion. That is my opinion about him," Piers told Amol Rajan in a BBC interview

This isn’t the first time the outspoken star has discussed his thoughts on Alex. Lifting the lid on the on-air row, Piers explained on Australia's Today programme in 2021: "Most people think I never came back. I actually did come back a few minutes later and we had an interesting conversation. I don't know if you have a deputy weather person... if you had a deputy stand-in weather person suddenly letting you have it in a personal way, I suspect you wouldn't like it either. I thought 'you know what, I will say something I will regret'. The controversial TV star added: “I don't mind guests piling into me that's fair game but not friendly fire from your own team. I wasn't having that."

Speaking to The Times last year, Piers weighed in on the drama again, accusing Alex of 'preparing' his response to the host's comments about Megan. Piers said: "Apparently, he was heard out the back rehearsing his lines, clearly wanted to have his little YouTube moment of fame, and that’s fine. I know he was planning a Hollywood career. I’m not quite sure how it’s going; I’ve not heard any updates."

Alex is still on Good Morning Britain and will also be seen on BBC this evening when he tries to get from Morocco to Norway with his father, Noel, on Celebrity Race Across the World. Speaking about his decision to go on the show, the broadcaster told the Radio Times he'd opted to take his dad on the trip instead of his wife, Imogen, who he married last year, because it was "the right decision".

Opening up about the new series, which also features McFly star Harry Judd and his mum, Emma, Alex said: "You don't get to spend this sort of time with your parents as an adult. Imogen was upset, as she loves travelling and she's a fan of the show but, as much as I love her and spending time with her, I'm not sure this was the honeymoon she'd want."

* Celebrity Race Across the World starts on Wednesday 20th September at 9pm on BBC One, across six episodes
