Jack Whitehall shares baby daughter's rare traditional name and sweet meaning
Jack Whitehall's daughter's name has finally been revealed - and it has a sweet meaning behind it.
The TV star welcomed his first child with partner Roxy Horner earlier this month, taking to social media to confirm the exciting news to his 3million Instagram followers.
Jack, who made his acting debut on E4's Fresh Meat in 2010, shared an adorable snap of him cradling the newborn in hospital with the caption, "Vowed I’d never be that guy I am now 100% going to be the parent that shows everyone endless pictures of their kid." The 35-year-old also joked that he'd morphed into a "full blown dad", even wearing "Skechers" to the hospital ward for the life-changing event.
Jack also hinted at their daughter's moniker, quipping, "Name wise after this weekend I think 'rice, rice, baby' has a night ring to it."
It has now been revealed that the A-list couple decided against calling their firstborn after the iconic Vanilla Ice lyric and have instead opted for a more traditional name.
Baby boy has spent his life in hospital as doctors are 'scared' to discharge himAccording to the Sun, Jack and Roxy have named their daughter "Elsie." Of Scottish origin, the five-letter title means 'Pledged to God' in Hebrew.
"Elsie is a gorgeous baby and Jack and Roxy have picked a gorgeous name to fit. Everyone is thrilled," the insider told the tabloid on Tuesday.
Jack has already opened up about how tiring being a parent to a newborn, posting a photo of himself snoozing on Instagram last week. He also quipped about the woes of baby changing, writing, "Can’t believe I’m only two weeks into this. Also every morning I see these nappy’s and think did someone sneak in last night and give my daughter five pints of Guinness and a kebab?"
The Bad Education star first spoke about his daughter's potential name last month, revealing that he and Roxy have been tempted to call their child after the 32-year-old model.
"My missus is named Roxanne after her dad's favourite song and she said we should maybe go down that route with our child," he told the Echo. "But I was like, 'I don't think we can call our kid Mambo No. 5'. Although that song does have quite a lot of names in it so there's a few to choose from if we did want to use it as inspiration."
Roxy and Jack have been dating for over three years, having reportedly first met in Australia whilst the comic was doing a comedy tour Down Under. Today they live in a £17.5 million house in Notting Hill, where they also quarantined together during the COVID-19 pandemic.
