We've all had a lazy Sunday where we couldn't be bothered to cook, but fancy a roast dinner. You want to go somewhere easy, that you know the kids will love and won't break the bank. Where better to go than your local Toby Carvery? With over 150 branches across the UK, it's an institution that offers cheap, accessible Sunday roasts for all. You've probably been to a branch when it's busy and seen how hard the staff work to keep the roast potatoes coming and the gravy flowing.

But what's it like to work at the Carvery? How is it possible to get anything done when there is so much delicious food around? Well, the mystery has been unraveled, as Toby Carvery workers reveal the top secrets of working there from free food to tips on bottomless drinks and making the most of the meat.

Speaking to the Daily Star, anonymous Toby Carvery workers revealed that one of the biggest perks of the job is free food. They revealed that many of them don't have to spend any money at work. But of course, this can make it tricky to stay fit. "We must admit, being surrounded by delicious-smelling food all day can be detrimental to our waistlines. Even if we resist the urge to tuck in on shift, it's very tempting to start scoffing when we get home," they said.

Understandably it gets harder to not eat regular carvery meals when you have a 33% discount across all outlets. Naturally, this means if you work for the pub chain, you'll be incredibly popular with your friends and family who can also get a third off when they're with you.

Carvery employees encourage punters to "pile your plates high" with meat, because when food supplies run low, sometimes they get to leave early. Similarly, the recommend making full use of the bottomless drinks that you're able to refill yourself. "Don't get us started on customers who want a top up every five minutes."

While employers may leave work smelling of gravy, with hardened soles, blisters and bruises from carrying heavy plates, they do a lot to keep people happy. You can even book the Carvery as a wedding reception, with roast dinners costing £9.99 per head. The restaurant chain announced that couples are able to book private areas in selected Toby Carvery restaurants for up to 60 guests for a minimum of £100.
