Prince Harry seemingly snubbed his wife Meghan Markle in his speech at the Closing Ceremony of the 2023 Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The Duke of Sussex, who turned 39 last week, failed to mention his doting wife the Duchess of Sussex in his speech, despite it being speculated that he would mention her in a sweet way. But ever the professional, Harry decided to leave the gushing over his wife for in private and instead paid his respects to the veterans taking part in the games.

Taking to the stage at the Merkur Spiel Arena during the closing ceremony, the Prince made a speech to the audience. It was then soon suggested that Harry was emotional as he spoke. In his speech, the Duke said: "As you have seen and experienced, this week is so much more than a sporting event. It is a platform for positive change. We hope you too are feeling it deeply. I am sure, you’re all physically exhausted, but I also hope you are mentally stronger than when you arrived."

A body language expert has since spoken of Harry's inner emotions as he gave his "rather lecturing, hard-hitting" speech. Judi James explained to us in a previous piece that the Duke's emotions "leaked out and at times took over". She said: "At one point he appeared tearful when he stopped speaking and wiped his mouth with his hand."

Despite the highly emotional speech, Harry made no mention of his wife despite us previously reporting that Harry would likely "powerful" speech at the closing ceremony of the Games and potentially pay an emotional tribute to his wife.

PR expert Mayah Riaz told us she believed Harry would give Meghan a special mention during the Invictus Games' final event. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, PR to the stars Mayah said: "He is very likely to acknowledge Meghan, especially as she is by his side. However, the focus of his speech will remain on celebrating the achievements and resilience of the athletes."

She also suggested Harry could become overwhelmed with emotion as he closes this year's Invictus Games. "Considering Prince Harry's enthusiastic and passionate engagement throughout the games, it is very possible that his spirited nature will shine through in his closing speech. Emotions may run high as he shares his experiences and encounters with the athletes, but he will likely maintain a composed and inspiring tone, highlighting the transformative power of the Invictus Games."
