This Morning stars have slammed Matt Hancock over a video posted on social media. The footage shows the disgraced former health secretary dancing to a Lizzo song next to a pool.

Love Island star Montana Brown shared the video on Instagram which showed herself, Gareth Gates, Michelle Heaton and Hancock busting out their best dance moves. The group are all set to appear in the latest series of Celebrity SAS Dares Wins.

And the dancing took place as they filmed the show in Vietnam in October last year. Hancock, 44, waves his hands in the air during shirtless the questionable performance.

In a caption, Montana said: "Had to hold onto this bad boy for nearly over a year… I think we’re ready to be professional dancers next." Discussing the clip on ITV This Moring, Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary were joined by Vanessa Feltz and Matthew Wright. Opening the segment, Alison explained that the video was already receiving backlash.

It came as the footage was filmed just after Hancock left his ministerial role. Speaking of the negative response to the video, Matthew Wright said: "Understandably isn’t it?"

"Why? He’s just having a bit of fun," Alison replied. But Matthew went on to explain how some people, especially those affected by the coronavirus pandemic, may deem it offensive.

He said: "This was filmed just after he left government, before [Hancock filmed] I’m a Celebrity." Matthew continued: "At this point, he’d just been kicked out of government for having an affair during Covid restrictions when I couldn’t bury my friend who died of Covid." In response, Alison said: "That puts it into perspective."

Continuing his rant, Matthew added that he 'despises' the TV bosses who cast Hancock in their reality shows. "The only people I loathe and despise more than the despicable Matt Hancock are the TV bosses that think that people want to see him on TV," he said.

The Wright Stuff presenter added: "I don’t. I hate the idea that he’s getting rich or richer doing nonsense like that." Vanessa Feltz agreed with what Matthew had said. She told the fellow presenters: "They say dance like no one’s watching, and maybe he should take that literally – dance and make sure nobody is watching. If you dance and someone is watching and filming, and they’re going to put you on social media then people are going to judge you.

"Of all the people I feel a great deal of compassion for, and a great deal of empathy for, he’s not necessarily top of my list quite frankly." And the backlash didn't end there. Instagram users took to the comments of the original video to share their views. Social media user @cainyeoman said: "I’d have kept that in the archive to be honest, MH really isn’t someone you should be proud of doing trends with."

@strictly_engish_bullterrier added: "I’m literally unfollowing due to Matt Hancock, your dancing with a man that partied away while thousands had empty funerals and died alone and he was a huge part of that." However, @chloe_prp_87 said: "Montana, I think this is a fab post of a group of people simply having a bit of a laugh ."

Hancock was reportedly paid £45,000 for his participation in Celeb SAS. He was then given £320,000 for appearing on I'm a Celeb, despite being a sitting MP at the time. He reportedly gave 3 percent of his fee to charity. Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins returns to Channel 4 on Tuesday, September 26, and will then continue with a new episode every Sunday.
