Britain’s loneliest dog needs a forever home after spending over 500 days in an animal shelter.
Charlie has spent over a year longing for somewhere to call home but the nine-year-old crossbreed hasn’t yet found a family to take him in.
The shy but sweet dog at RSPCA Brent Knoll Animal Centre, Somerset, arrived back in September 2021, and has been waiting patiently ever since then.
The adorable dog craves contact and companionship and loves nothing more than cuddling up on the sofa.
Andy Cook, Behaviour & Welfare Advisor at RSPCA North Somerset Branch said: “It's safe to say that this boy is a special lad and is the team’s favourite.

The nine-year-old dog came from a home of domestic abuse and confrontation (RSPCA)“He is loving life at RSPCA Brent Knoll Animal Centre and joins the team every morning for tea break.
“However, as much as we all adore Charlie, we would love nothing better than to see him in a wonderful new home.
“He’s such a playful and affectionate dog who deserves to find his special place in someone’s heart and home.
“We can’t understand why he’s not yet been adopted and really hope that someone out there will give this gorgeous rescue dog the second chance he needs,” The Daily Express reported.
Staff have been left baffled as to why the adorable pup hasn't found a home (RSPCA)Charlie came to the shelter after living in a home where there was domestic abuse and aggressive confrontation.
Due to this, he can sometimes be worried by unfamiliar people, especially men, but loves being around people once he gets to know them.
Alongside cuddles, Charlies also loves playing and his squeaky toys too.
The charity said his ideal home would be an adult only home, or a home with older children of a secondary school age.
He is also looking for an experienced owner who can help with his anxieties and give him a chance to build his confidence.
