Liverpool are set to take on Wolves this Saturday when the Premier League returns following the international break.

Jurgen Klopp's side have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the new campaign, drawing against Chelsea before securing three straight wins over Bournemouth, Newcastle and Aston Villa. Supporters will be looking forward to the prospect of deadline day signing Ryan Gravenberch potentially making his debut for the club, having unable to feature against Villa.

Following the Wolves game, Liverpool will begin their Europa League campaign with a midweek trip to Austria to take on LASK. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Liverpool news in the last 24 hours....

Klopp replacement identified

Liverpool have been told Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi would be the "perfect" replacement for Klopp if he decides to depart Anfield and become Germany's new manager.

Klopp has been linked with the Germany job once again after Hansi Flick was sacked following a 4-1 loss to Japan and Murphy has backed De Zerbi as a potential replacement. "I've got the answer, so I'm not worried about (Klopp leaving)," the former Liverpool midfielder said on talkSPORT.

Three stars miss training

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Darwin Nunez and Thiago Alcantara all missed training on Thursday ahead of Liverpool's return to action against Wolves.

The trio have all suffered injury setbacks in recent weeks and Klopp appears to be facing a major selection headache following the international break. Alexander-Arnold suffered a hamstring injury in the win over Aston Villa earlier this month which forced him to pull out of the England squad.

Nunez was taken off at half-time in Uruguay's World Cup qualifier against Ecuador after suffering what his manager Marcelo Bielsa described as "muscular difficulties", while Thiago has been out of action since the start of the season after having surgery on a hip problem over the summer.

Injury boost

While Liverpool could be without Alexander-Arnold, Nunez and Thiago when they take on Wolves, there is one piece of positive injury news.

Ibrahima Konate, who missed Liverpool's last two games after suffering a thigh injury, was back in training on Thursday and could feature against Wolves. Klopp was left with just two senior centre-halves when the Reds faced Aston Villa before the international break, with Konate injured and Virgil van Dijk suspended.

And while Van Dijk will miss the Wolves game after his ban was extended due to his furious reaction to his red card against Newcastle, Konate is in contention to start after coming through training unscathed.
