A father and son lotto team is telling their unique story of how they came together to land an amazing £120,00 ($150,000) lotto jackpot.

Gary Mallet and son Tim first won USD 50,000 (GBP 40,093) after they matched four of Michigan Lottery's Powerball draw on 26th August. Then they realised the win tripled to USD 150,000 because they'd paid an extra single dollar for a Power Play ticket.

Gary, from St Clair Shores, Michigan State, USA, said in a statement: "We checked our ticket the morning after the drawing and didn't recognise the message we got on the ticket checker. "We asked the clerk to scan the ticket and she used the Lottery's app to find out how much we'd won.

"She scanned the ticket and then dropped her phone and said: 'You won USD 150,000 [GBP 120,112]!' We couldn't believe it and told her to 'Quit pulling our legs!'" The pair say they plan to use the cash to pay off bills, complete some home repairs, and save the rest.

Gary said: "Winning is unreal and so hard to believe. It couldn't have come at a better time." Michigan Lottery said: "Powerball plays may be purchased for USD 2 [GBP 1.6] each at Lottery retailers across the state and online.

"A 'Power Play' option that multiplies non-jackpot prizes by up to 10 times to a maximum of USD 2 million [GBP 1.6 million] may be added to any Powerball play for only USD 1 [GBP 0.8].

For an additional USD 1 [GBP 0.8] per play, Double Play may be added to a Powerball ticket, giving players a second chance to win up to USD 10 million [GBP 8 million] in the nightly Double Play drawing." The winning ticket was bought at the Harper Gas Station, St. Clair Shores.

Of course, their win wasn't anywhere near as large as some lucky folks. For example, $2billion Powerball winner Edwin Casto has been flexing his financial muscle by purchasing a staggering $47million (£38m) mega-mansion with photographs revealing inside.

The 31-year-old has grown his property portfolio by adding the Los Angeles home with seven bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, a koi pond, and a huge infinity pool with stunning views. It was sold by celebrity estate agent Mauricio Umansky. He already has a home in Bel Air and Altadena, worth a combined $76million (£61m).

His latest home comes with DJ turntables, a champagne tasting room, and a suspended glass walkway. It also has a bar area, a glass-walled wine cellar, and a huge home theatre and screening room. The luxury bedroom has walk-in wardrobes, sitting areas termed 'relaxation suites', and large bathtubs.

His life changed forever in February when he purchased the winning ticket from a local petrol station in November last year. He came forward to claim the $2.04billion prize, opting to take the lump sum of $997.6 million.
