Miriam Margolyes has landed a huge new TV role just days after causing chaos during a recent appearance on This Morning. The outspoken actress landed in hot water with telly bosses for repeatedly breaking broadcast rules earlier this week.

Despite her live on-air carnage, the 82-year-old Harry Potter actress will be returning to the small screen soon for her latest booking. Miriam hinted her new position was a life-long ambition after admitting the job has made her "very happy".

She will star alongside David Tennant in new episodes of Doctor Who this November for the 60th anniversary specials. The BBC says Miriam is the voice behind the Meep, an "iconic creature" adapted from The Star Beast comic strip.

"I'm relieved I got to work on Doctor Who before I died," Miriam explained after her new role was announced by Doctor Who bosses. She added: "With sci-fi you never know. Thank you for making an old woman very happy."

Doctor Who returns in November 2023 with three special episodes with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor to coincide with the 60th anniversary. Ncuti Gatwa’s first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor will air over the festive period.

It comes after This Morning was abruptly taken off air on its ITV +1 repeat on Wednesday after Miriam found herself in hot water after repeatedly breaking the show's rules. She was fielding calls from viewers grappling with various issues.

One caller, Janet, shared her ongoing battle with inconsiderate "nightmare" neighbours who persistently park on her property despite her pleas. Janet sought advice on whether she should take further action or simply "let it go".

Miriam offered her candid advice: "It's a problem with neighbours because ... I think you have to go to them and say 'I really need to talk to you about this because my health is being affected. 'I'm not happy and that's not fair is it?' And then if they're still like that, throw s**t over the walls".

Co-hosts Holly Willoughby and Josie Gibson were visibly taken aback by Miriam's unorthodox suggestion. Holly swiftly apologised for Miriam's comment and urged viewers not to resort to vandalism.

Earlier in the show, Miriam was seen advising a viewer who felt neglected by her partner. The show's agony aunt advised the caller to express her feelings to her partner, before suggesting a bold move - strip naked and "show him what she's got". She also recommended taking his phone away and telling him to put the "f***ing phone away".
