Dancing with the Stars pro Sharna Burgess 'shocked' as she's not asked to return
Sharna Burgess has detailed her shock at not being asked back for season 32 of Dancing With the Stars.
The 38-year-old professional dancer revealed that while she decided to take a temporary leave of absence from the competitive reality show last year after just welcoming her first child with husband Brian Austin Green, she always thought that the following year, she would return to the dance floor.
However, that was not the case, as she explained during a recent episode of her new iHeart Radio podcast Old-Ish: "Last season I was supposed to come back, but Zane was only eight weeks old. It just felt like I needed to sit in motherhood with Zane."
She added to her co-host and husband Brian: "It was always, 'I want to come back next year,' and 'Of course, we love you, we'll always have you.'" But to the Australian star's surprise, she found out she would not be returning this season when her phone remained silent while her dancing co-stars all began getting calls to return.

While she took last year off after becoming a new mum, she thought she would return to the dance floor this year (sharnaburgess/Instagram)"It was such a shock because I wasn't expecting it. It was tough," Sharna added before noting it "wasn't the first time" she wasn't asked to return as she didn't appear on the show for season 27. She explained that the "last five years on the show have been rocky," especially when they had a new executive producer come in five years earlier when she had just won the season with Bobby Bones, "he decided not to bring me back".

"There's a lot of speculation as to why," Sharna added of the producer's decision. Sharna welcomed her first child with 50 year old Beverly Hills 90210 actor in July 2022. Brian shared a sweet black-and-white snap of the youngster gripping his finger and captioned the post: "Zane Walker Green born 6/28 at 12:12," followed by two love heart emojis.

At the time when she revealed she wouldn't be returning to DWTS that season, Sharna said in an Instagram video: "I was not ready to spend at minimum 10 hours a day away from Zane." She added: "I say ten hours because it's not just the time in the room. It's the travel time, the prep time, the hair and makeup time. Sundays and Mondays are full days away. I'm a full-time breastfeeding mama, and not only that, I just, I am so in love with just being a mom."
Brian and Sharna first became an item in October 2020 after a mutual friend introduced them. A year later, they were paired up together on Dancing With The Stars, but thankfully for the duo, their relationship lasted longer than their experience on the show - they were eliminated after just three weeks.
