Ben Shephard shares X-rated reason for success as he jokes 'don't tell my wife'

Good Morning Britain star Ben Shepherd has jokingly revealed that the secret behind his TV success was to sleep "with all the right people."

The 48 year old star, who has enjoyed a glittering 20 year career made the comment in pure jest during an interview with Tubes, who hosts the Tubes & Ange Golf Life Youtube channel. The YouTube host told Ben that he was one of the "most loved TV presenters in this country", to which Ben responded by saying "thank you." He then added: "Don't tell my wife that, she has a very different opinion!" But when asked how his career unfolded, Ben quipped: "I just slept with all the right people!”

The pair then burst into laughter at his shock admission. Ben, who is a father of two, landed his big break in 1998 when he presented the Bigger Breakfast on Channel 4, alongside Dermot O'Leary.

But away from the spotlight, Ben's personal life is seemingly perfect. The star has been married to Annie Perks for 19 years and the couple share two children together. They met while they were both studying at Birmingham University in 1995. At the time, Annie was studying Philosophy and even became the head of the Philosophy & Epistemology Society.

Appearing on Kate Thornton's White Wine Question Time, Ben revealed all about his marriage. He told Kate: "We met at university - so you knew Annie when I just got into the telly - and I was sort of a mere puppy when it came to the world of broadcasting media. She has been through all this with me - the highs and the lows of all that experience. And she is still here, somehow is still putting up with me which to this day, I can't quite believe that I am extraordinarily lucky."

The pair tied the knot in March 2004 and have done their best to keep their family life out of the spotlight. Annie has a successful career as an interior designer and has worked with the likes of House and Garden, Elle Decor and Glamour. In July this year, Ben took to social media to post a loving message to Annie to congratulate her on winning an award for one of her gardening designs.

He wrote: "#Proud husband post! Thanks to @gingerhorticulture for capturing this moment @annieshepharddesign being announced as the recipient of the Judges Prize from @londoncollegegardendesign thanks to @jothompsongarden She has worked so hard over the last year, I couldn’t be more proud of her and excited for what comes next."

He added: ""She’s loved this course and all her fellow students. It’s been great to see her so inspired and motivated, not gonna lie the boys are delighted that they won’t have to rely on their old man for food, drinks and general logistics now mum has graduated- everyone is relieved about that!! Other than Deliveroo who’s profits will now slump significantly!!"

And the couple's celebrity pals wasted no time in congratualating Annie. Ben's co-host Kate Garraway wrote: "Amazing!!! Congratulations @annieshepharddesign!! So deserved - we always knew you were the clever one of the pair!!!"
