ITV viewers 'complain to Ofcom' over Dec's 'inappropriate remark'

ITV viewers claim they plan to complain to Ofcom over Declan Donnelly’s ‘inappropriate’ comments during Saturday Night Takeaway.

Ant and Dec returned to TV screens this weekend with the latest series of the show which included guests Alison Hammond and David Tennant.

But within minutes of the episode airing, Dec made a comment about an audience member that didn’t go down well with viewers at home.

“Even though we have been off air, we’ve still kept a very close eye on all of you here, and all of you out there,” he said.

Turning to a female member of the audience, he then quipped: “Yes, you should look nervous Madam and close your legs.”

The comment prompted viewers to take to social media to complain, with some saying they would contact TV regulator Ofcom.

One fan wrote: “Close your legs? What a deeply inappropriate comment to make guys, come on #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”

“Ofcom complaints Monday morning,” another social media user commented.

A third said: “I just want people to know there is Ofcom to voice your concerns to, if there are enough complaints ITV /Ant and Dec will have to apologise” adding a link to the Ofcom complaints page.

Another section of Saturday Night Takeaway also drew complaints from viewers who branded it ‘bad taste’.

Ant and Dec played a prank on a first-time dad by creating fake footage of the 4D scan of the baby.

During a hospital visit, pregnant Amy and her husband Liam were getting ready to get a first glimpse of their baby.

An actress posing as a sonographer told Liam to speak to Amy's baby bump. He was then shocked to witness his 'baby' wave back at him.

At one point, the fake sonographer told Liam to play peek-a-boo with his baby, and he happily gave it a go.

"It's not even his baby," the presenters told the camera as they watched the father look at the screen in awe.

Fans weren't amused with the prank, which wife Amy was in on, and took to to complain about the 'cruel' moment.

One raged: “This prank aint funny in the slightest he literally thinks thats his baby and the whole thing is fake? literally weird and cruel tbh.”

"Is it just me or does this feel in really bad taste, messing with a father's first time experience like this," another Twitter user wrote.

A third added: “Bit harsh the guy's thinking he's seeing the face of his child for the first time and ant and Dec are like not even his baby.”

Saturday Night Takeaway airs on ITV ay 7.30pm on Saturdays or catch up on ITV X
