Fed-up residents have shared their fury after finding tickets on their card that they parked in their own DRIVEWAYS.

The homeowners were left fuming after they were slapped with the fines - after parking on their own property.

At the time, Miami Police Department claimed tickets were being issued because resident vehicles regularly obstructed the sidewalk.

But many hit back and claimed that the assertion was exaggerated. Some admitted to imperfect parking, but many pointed out that they were parking on their own property.

“In just a week, there were like four houses got hit with £24 tickets, and some of them are for being just a little bit into the sidewalk." neighbor Perla Terzian complained.

Resident Steven Heckert, who was issued a parking ticket, said: "Why am I getting a ticket if I'm parking in my driveway at home?"

Locals also claimed that the city was adding more strains for families during the height of the Covid outbreak.

Over the course of a few weeks in 2020, several properties in the neighbourhood received numerous penalties, all for obstructing the walkway. But residents said they couldn't help it, according to WSVN.

Not only were they forced to stay in their houses, but many lived in households with multiple cars and college-aged kids in them. Many residents of the South Florida area were also unable to work.

“The reason that’s upsetting to us is most of us have been furloughed or terminated. We’re not getting any type of warning whatsoever. We’re just being slapped a citation," Mary Difede who received a parking ticket said at the time.

Many of the locals discovered that the tickets were not being provided during the day since they had to quarantine at home.

Mary, whose house received two tickets, said it was "odd" that one ticket said it was placed on the windshield at 9.55 p.m.

She said it was also strange for someone to be wandering the neighborhood at that time as well.

When asked why residents were getting ticketed, the Miami Dade Police Department said they were merely responding to calls.

It added that the police visited the area after receiving an anonymous tip from someone in the neighborhood. It repudiated claims that officers were aimlessly patrolling the streets at night.

The Miami Dade Police aren't strangers to parking complaints from locals. In April, they reported a lack of parking that quickly became a nuisance.

Some residents said they spent hours circling blocks and their apartment building in search for a spot.

“They have people just parking anywhere, I mean, in the streets or in the grass, anywhere they can find a parking space,” said resident Omar Nation.
