Phil Spencer returns to filming with Kirstie Allsopp weeks after parents’ deaths

Phil Spencer has returned to filming Channel 4's popular property show with Kirstie Allsopp, just weeks after his parents' tragic death.

The presenter, 53, lost his mum, Anne, 82, and dad, David, 89, after they were killed in a car accident while heading out for lunch in Kent in August. It was uncertain if Phil would be able to return to Location, Location, Location following the tragedy. However, his co-star, Kirstie, 52, shared a video the two presenters on Instagram confirming they were back at work.

She said: “So we’re back at work filming on Location, Location, Location and I didn’t quite know what my next post on Instagram should be, because the last post was about Phil’s mum and dad and you all put such lovely, lovely messages and Phil was so grateful.” Phil interjected: “I’m very grateful, and I haven’t put anything on Instagram either, but I do appreciate people’s lovely, lovely comments.” Kirstie continued: “You see, he’s English and he is a man and he’s just done really, really well. So round of applause to Phil for doing that and thank you. You’ve all been so kind.”

Fans flocked to the comments section after seeing Kirstie's post, with one saying: "A lovely man, so glad to see him back after such a difficult time." While another said: "Lovely to see you both. Take it gently from here."

Phil and Kirstie have presented Location, Location, Location together for more than 20 years and have also starred in spin-off shows including Relocation, Relocation. It was Kirstie who first broke the news about Phil's parents, telling fans she was “sending so much love” to her co-star.

Phil stayed silent after the news broke, however he later paid tribute to his beloved parents on Instagram, writing: "Very sadly both of my amazing parents died on Friday. As a family we are all trying to hold onto the fact Mum and Dad went together and that neither will ever have to mourn the loss of the other one. Which is a blessing in itself."

The presenter explained his mum and dad had been on "extremely good form" before the tragic accident – despite Anne's Parkinson's diagnosis and his dad having dementia. In a poignant comment, the presenter also shared how his mum had commented the week before her death the couple will "probably go together".

Describing the moments before the accident, he explained: “The car, going very slowly, toppled over a bridge on the farm drive, upside down into the river. There were no physical injuries and I very much doubt they would have even fought it, they would have held hands under the water and quietly slipped away."
