Amy Walsh in tears as terminally ill dad walks her down the aisle at wedding

Amy Walsh fought back tears as she revealed her terminally ill father walked her down the aisle on her wedding day.

The Emmerdale actress, 36, got married to EastEnders star Toby-Alexander Smith, 32, in Montenegro, surrounded by friends and family, including Girls Aloud star, Kimberley Walsh, 41, who is Amy's sister. Also in attendance at the star-studded nuptials was the siblings' dad, John, who made sure he was there for his daughter, despite being diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Opening up about how much his presence meant to her, Amy said: "My dad isn’t very well and we weren’t sure until the 11th hour if he would be able to come. My brother handed me over to my dad, who walked me down the last bit. He knows he only has a certain amount of time left, so it was important for him to be there. It’s a cancer you can’t cure, but you can live with it and he’s doing well fighting it."

MasterChef contestant Toby-Alexander added he found John's contribution 'very moving', telling OK! Magazine: "Amy’s dad was very emotional – it was a very poignant moment for me."

Amy had six bridesmaids for her big day, including Kimberley and the girls' other sister, Sally. Admitting she hadn't given much thought to the bridal tradition of 'something borrowed, something blue' tradition, the actress revealed the Girls Aloud star gave her a ring, which she had inherited from their grandma. Kimberley also lent here sister some dazzling Chanel earrings while Sally, who is also an actress, gifted her a blue garter.

The Emmerdale actress, who shares 20-month old daughter Bonnie with husband, Toby-Alexander, met the EastEnders star in the audience of Strictly Come Dancing. The pair didn't get together until a year later with the actor popping the all important question last year. Sharing a snap of Amy's sparkler during a holiday in Ibiza, the former Gray Atkins actor captioned the post: "So this happened". Amy also took to her Instagram page to share three snaps of their Ibiza trip with the caption: "Before During. After."

In the first photo, the couple have smiles a mile wide over a table at plush restaurant, Aiyanna, while the second showcased the eatery's swanky interior. The final snap then revealed an over-the-moon Amy posing with her engagement ring as Toby beamed at the camera with his delighted bride-to-be. The Emmerdale actress' famous fans rushed to the comment section to congratulate the happy couple, with Kimberly writing: "The best news!" Meanwhile, fellow soap star Natalie Ann Jamieson gushed: "Aw, look at these - absolutely love!!! The most gorgeous news from the most gorgeous couple."
