EastEnders' Danielle Harold 'excited for next step' amid I'm A Celeb rumours

EastEnders star Danielle Harold broke down in tears as she took home a National Television Award - before telling The Mirror about her dreams of completing a 'series with a beginning, middle, and end'.

Earlier this week, the talented soap actress was awarded the best Serial Drama Performance at television's biggest night. Danielle, 31, was up against other huge soap stars but managed to impress the voting public with her portrayal of Lola Pearce-Brown in the BBC soap.

EastEnders fans who have watched Danielle on the BBC One since 2011, saw her character Lola die from a glioblastoma brain tumour earlier this summer, with her portrayal of the tragic health battle also winning her the coveted title of Best Leading Performer and Soap Actor at the TRIC award.

Following her incredible win at the National Television Awards at London's 02 arena on Tuesday, Danielle told The Mirror that she has been 'auditioning' for different roles since departing EastEnders after 12 years. The talented actress said that while she has thoroughly loved being a soap star, she is now hoping to 'branch out' into other elements of acting including starring in a series.

"I would love to do a series with a beginning, middle and an end to the story. Because with EastEnders as a soap, you're constantly thinking... so it'd be lovely to do something with a beginning, middle and an end. I wish I'd have gone to an island and relaxed. Straight back into auditioning so I can't wait to see what's next," she explained.

And when asked whether she'd ever consider venturing into the world of reality TV now that she's done with EastEnders, the actress said: "I don't know really. That's what's exciting about leaving a soap when you've been in it for such a long time, it's like the world changes, the industry changes so much - I'm really excited to see what's next."

It comes amid rumours that the former EastEnders star is 'in talks' to appear on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! later this year. ITV bosses are said to be 'desperate' to have Danielle on the show after her incredible finale performance in EastEnders and her prestigious NTA win.

"Danielle is at the height of her career and in demand after her moving storyline on EastEnders, but she’s really caught the eye of ITV bosses to appear in the upcoming series of the jungle," a TV source told The Sun. “As well as being a talented actress with a huge fanbase, Danielle has a fun personality with a wicked sense of humour, which makes her the ideal campmate for the show. It could propel her into superstardom at an exciting time in her acting journey."

The Mirror has reached out to Danielle's representatives for comment on this story.
