Maura Higgins made waves on Love Islands thanks to her brutal honesty and no nonsense approach to dating - but after giving fans a string of iconic catchphrases and one liners, it seems she is changing things up to read lines written by others.

The 32-year-old reality star - who was a stand out contestant on 2019’s fifth season of the ITV2 reality romance show - is turning her hand to acting. And she will be displaying her comedy skills as reports claim she has landed a role in a new Brit-flick that is filming in Northern Ireland.

Maura - who is fresh from working on the American version of Love Island where she acted as a supporting host - is hopeful her role could be the first of many in the acting world. And while cameras are only set to start rolling this weekend, she has reportedly already wowed producers on the project.

A source has told The Sun all about Maura’s new role - sharing details of her character, where it is filming, and her hopes for the future. The source said: “Maura plays a character called Rose in The Spin. It’s a British film which follows two friends travelling through Ireland looking for old music records.”

The source continued: “She started work on The Spin over the weekend in Belfast and really impressed the producers… The film could open a lot of new doors for Maura and it’s a very exciting time.”

The source also claims that film bosses considered Maura the “perfect fit” for her role and it is said she is throwing herself into the new challenge and has demonstrated a drive to learn. The uplifting news comes days after Maura was cast in a bad light when reports emerged to reveal she had been engaged in a blazing argument with a fellow Love Island contestant.

She is said to have clashed with 2021 contestant Faye Winter for an hour when they crossed paths at the National Television Awards last Tuesday. The blistering argument was said to have been ignited after Faye - who Love Island fans will recall has a particularly volatile temper - accidentally hit Maura with her £1,000 Christian Louboutin heels.

A furious argument then erupted and footage of the tense moment went viral. Cameras captured the women screaming at each other and pointing fingers, with Maura heard exclaiming: “Don't you point your finger at me!”

A kindly gentleman then intervened and declared: “Girls, girls. Why are you fighting? This has been going on for an hour now. Stop it, stop it.” While an onlooker told The Sun: “Maura looked furious with Faye - the pair were arguing quite loudly and in front of a loads of people. It was quite embarrassing and they were at it for ages.”
