Celebrity MasterChef revealed the 2023 winner on Friday night after 20 stars originally battled it out in the kitchen.

It was revealed earlier this week that Amy Walsh, Luca Bish and Wynne Evans had made the final three with the trio having to present a faultless three-course meal in two hours for judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace during Friday's final.

And after blowing the judges away with his Welsh-inspired menu, Wynne, 51, who is best known as Italian opera singer, Gio Compario, in the Go Compare insurance adverts, was announced as the 2023 winner.

Speaking after being announced as the winner, Wynne said the competition was life-changing, adding: "This a brilliant feeling, the kids will love this - they'll be like: 'Dad, I can't believe you did it when all you cook for us is beans on toast!'" before breaking out into celebratory opera song.

It comes as the three finalists spoke about getting to the final in an interview prior to Friday's episode. Emmerdale star, Amy, 36, said of getting to the final and if she expected it: "Not a chance in hell. I really, really just wanted to get past the first round and then anything after that, I didn’t mind. But then the closer I got to the final, it made me think – I need to get there now. I never believed I’d be able to win it, but I thought it would be amazing to make it to the final and then, it happened."

Talking about her fears for the final, she added: "I was worried that by this point, I’d run out of a steam a bit with my ideas and my energy. Moving house at the same time too was tricky and I had a one-year-old that I’d been juggling too. I had a real fear that I’d reached my limit, how was I going to up what I’d done so far. I struggled with prepping for finals week as I couldn’t make any decisions on what to cook!"

Meanwhile, Love Island star Luca, 24, said of whether he expected to make the final: "Oh no! My goal was always just getting through the first day! Anything past day one and I would have been absolutely buzzing, it was just surreal after that." Talking about his fears for the final, he added: "It's just The Final! It's the last time I’ll probably ever cook in the MasterChef kitchen and I doubt they’ll have me back to taste because I don’t eat anything! So yeah, just don’t let the pressure get to you. It's the final, just enjoy it and be proud that I’m there and see whatever happens, I’m more than happy to be in the final three."

While Wynne said of whether he expected to make the final: "No, because I didn't know what the competition was going be like on day one. So, all I wanted to do was not be first out, that was my main thing. Then as the series went on, I suppose the camaraderie took over really. Of course you think ahead, but you don’t want to plan too far ahead because you don’t want to jinx yourself."
