Hollywood star surprises locals as he enjoys holiday in the Yorkshire Dales

Hugh Jackman has been spotted taking a holiday in the Yorkshire Dales amid the ongoing showbiz strike in Hollywood.

The X-Men star, 54, was spotted out hiking and buying cheese at a farmhouse shop. Aussie Hugh, superhero Wolverine in the Marvel films, chose the English countryside over a luxury resort and was rewarded with a week of glorious weather. He is making the most of downtime caused as members of US actors’ and writers’ union SAG-AFTRA strike over pay and conditions.

Hugh has had little time to relax, however, as locals and fellow holidaymakers keep asking him for selfies. But he was happy to pose with staff after buying cheese at The Courtyard Dairy in Settle, North Yorks. Hugh, who is married to fellow Aussie actor Deborra-Lee Furness Jackman, 67, and has two grown-up children, stayed at the Steeton Hall Hotel in Keighley, North Yorks.

Following his visit, the hotel posted a photo of the Greatest Showman star with staff. It said: “Wow, all we can say is what a pleasure we had to host Hugh Jackman and his family.” Fellow guest Angela Armitage said Hugh told her the Yorkshire Dales were “lovely”. As well as posing for photos, Hugh was captured on a resident’s doorbell camera as he strolled along a canal.

He is set to appear again as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, out next year.
