Laura Anderson’s sweet baby name meaning uncovered and is a nod to both parents
Love Island star Laura Anderson and Hollyoaks actor Gary Lucy are proud parents - having welcomed an adorable baby daughter named Bonnie Rose together.
It is the first child for 34-year-old Laura - who was a contestant on season four of Love Island back in 2018 where she matched with model Paul Knops, but they later split. For 41-year-old Gary, Bonnie Rose is his fifth child as he shares four other children with his ex-wife, Natasha Gray.
On Thursday, Laura and Gary proudly revealed that their baby daughter had arrived - having kept the news to themselves for almost a week. It seems that Laura had a health scare during the delivery and the trio have enjoyed bonding together after Bonnie Rose arrived last Saturday.
Fans have taken note of Laura’s daughter’s adorable name - which was revealed in full as Bonnie Rose Lucy Anderson. While naming experts at OK! Magazine have researched the new bundle of joy’s name to uncover secrets behind the chosen names.

Her second name Rose, however, has a more Latin origin and is named after the iconic rose flower, a classic and quintessentially English bloom.”

The expert added: “In a nod to both her parents, Bonnie’s surname also features Lucy and Anderson, with Lucy itself meaning ‘light’ while Anderson hails from Scandinavian roots, meaning ‘son of Anders’.”
Laura shared news that she had given birth on Thursday by sharing a montage of photos on her Instagram page along with a message - purporting to be from the baby girl. The message said: “Hi everyone, my name is Bonnie Rose Lucy Anderson. I was born 02/09/23 at 06.03am and weighed 6.10lbs. My Mummy & Daddy are sooooo happy and in love with me, this is our first week together. I’m sorry it’s taken me some time to introduce myself, I hurt my mummy a little bit and scared my daddy too (oops) we’re all now recovering well at home.”
The note added: “Please don’t question My Mummy & Daddy on their relationship- This.. is all about me.” Laura and Gary started dating in 2022 after meeting via reality show Celebs Go Dating.
And while they excitedly announced they were set to become parents together February 2023, the couple also announced at the same time that they had made the decision to split. Gary vowed to be present to help Laura raise their child, and said in a statement: "I love Laura but we are no longer together. My main drive as always is to work together to co-parent our child. I look forward to the arrival of the new baby."
