The latest instalment of New York Fashion Week (NYFW) has arrived, with designers set to showcase their new collections as a host of models grace runways in the city.

The biannual exhibition - which is held in February and September in New York City each year - is among the four fashion weeks that are collectively known as the 'Big Four'. The other three events are in Paris, London and Milan.

Not only have these events featured acclaimed designers over the years, but they have also included a host of celebrities who have modelled in the four international exhibitions. This has included actors, singers and athletes.

NYFW, like its counterparts, has seen its fair share of celebrity models taking to the stage to showcase designs by either their own fashion brands or those belonging to other people. This has included a number of high-profile names.

We've taken a look back at just some examples of the celebrities who have walked down the runway in NYFW to mark the latest instalment of the semi-annual fashion exhibition, which is set to run from September 7 to 13.

Gwen Stefani, now 53, was among the models who walked the runway during a show for her own fashion brand L.A.M.B. in 2011. It was part of NYFW, though the exhibition was known as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at the time.

The singer showcased one of the brand's designs when she headed down the catwalk wearing what appeared to be an animal print dress. She had opted to accessorise the grey dress with a black belt and some jewellery for the show.

The brand - said to be an acronym for Love. Angel. Music. Baby., which was Gwen's debut solo album - had been at NYFW previously. L.A.M.B. had showcased collections on several occasions since it was founded back in 2003.

She took to the runway herself at one point, modelling a mint dress. The singer accessorised the outfit with various pieces of jewellery, including star shaped earrings and some bangles. Jennifer graced the catwalk after some models.

It's not the only time that she's modelled in a show during one of the so-called Big Four. More recently, she headed down the runway in Milan Fashion Week in 2019 wearing a reimagined version of an iconic dress she once wore.

The reality TV star - who, at that time, was on Keeping Up with the Kardashians - wore a red dress for the occasion. She was among the models in the fashion show, which is said to have raised awareness around heart disease.

Other celebrities who took part included singer Toni Braxton, reality TV star Kelly Osbourne, gymnast Gabby Douglas and actor Jamie Chung. Kris' youngest daughters Kendall and Kylie Jenner also modelled in the show.

The actor - who's said to have closed the show, with confetti reportedly falling onto the stage following her walk - graced the runway wearing a gown that attracted much praise. It's said to have featured layers of pink and red tulle.

It however wasn't the first time that Laverne had walked a runway in the city. She had previously been among the models chosen to showcase designs in the charity event Go Red For Women, which was held at NYFW four years prior.

She's understood to have since been in the audience at other shows. This included Scarlett having returned to NYFW the following year, when she attended a subsequent showcase that was held by Imitation of Christ.
