Holly Willoughby admits she 'doesn't know' what future holds for This Morning

Holly Willoughby admitted she doesn't know 'what the future holds' for This Morning after a dramatic few months.

The presenter used to front the show alongside Phillip Schofield. However, he stepped down from his ITV roles earlier this year after admitting he had an "unwise, but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague at the channel. Holly claimed she had no knowledge of the affair and returned to host the show with a rotation of presenters.

Earlier this week, Holly and her co-stars - including Alison Hammond, Rochelle Humes and Dermot O'Leary - were nominated for Best Daytime Programme at the National Television Awards. The ITV show lost to The Repair Shop, breaking their 13-year award-winning streak.

Some eagle-eyed fans even claimed Holly looked 'close to tears' as the winner was announced. This Morning was also booed when they were given a shoutout at the beginning of the event, which was held at London's O2 Arena. While on the red carpet, Holly was asked about what the ITV programme's future might look like after a 'difficult' year.

Speaking to Grazia, the 42-year-old said: "At the moment, what the future holds I don’t think any of us yet know,' she admits. 'It all feels quite new. But I think it’s like taking it one day as it comes until something feels right." After losing out to The Repair Shop, Holly took to social media to congratulate the show's host Jay Blades.

Along with a black-and-white selfie with the Repair Shop host, she wrote: "To this gorgeous man @jaybladesmbe and the whole team at the @therepairshoptv … Hugest Congratulations!!! And what a night for the incredible Sarah Lancashire… @joeldommett thank you for a great night… See you in the morning."

Fellow presenter Dermot posted a heart emoji while Alison added heart-eye emojis to the post. In the snap, both showed off their pearly whites as they posed for the photo. Moments later, Holly returned to her Instagram page to share a snap of herself chowing down on a McDonald's Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

"Say (quarter pounder with) CHEESE," she captioned the photo of herself chomping down on the burger. After an eventful night, it's no surprise she went straight for a takeaway burger.

Speaking on the red carpet prior to the NTAs kicking off on Tuesday, Holly admitted the past year has been a "world she doesn't recognise" following the This Morning scandal. She told OK!: "This last year has been quite difficult at times. You know, if I'm really honest, it's been up and down. I think it's been a really difficult year for everybody but what's lovely is you find that people rally around you and, you know, the goodwill is there." Holly also explained that "people want things to move on".
