NTA awkward moment as Holly interrupts hug between Jay Blades and Alison Hammond
Fans spotted an awkward moment as Holly Willoughby interrupted a hug between Jay Blades and Alison Hammond at the National Television Awards.
This Morning missed out on the Daytime gong for the first time in 12 years after being faced by Loose Women, The Chase, and The Repair Shop, which took the award. The Repair Shop star Jay Blades gave the winner's speech on Tuesday night before he went to hug other celebs and fellow nominees in the audience. The gracious star jogged into the crowd towards the This Morning hosts in a touching moment as fans think that he was heading for Alison before Holly jumped up and went in for a hug instead – accidentally interrupting the moment between Alison and Jay.
Fans took to Twitter to point out the gaffe, as one said: "Go the Repair Shop well deserved . So humble and you didn't need to skip a queue or fall out with each other."
"#NTAs repair shop went to hug Alison but Holly had to jump in first. Always jumping the queue," another added. As one noticed: "Holly looks likes she’s about to burst into tears when the repair shop won the award."
The NTAs were broadcasted live on ITV from the O2 Arena in London, with Joel Dommett hosting the event. He had recently admitted he might not be able to make it, given that his wife Hannah is due to give birth anytime soon. However, he made it to the event alongside Hannah, who looked glowing as she wowed in a stunning outfit.
Phillip Schofield mocks Molly-Mae's baby name in cruel swipe at Love Island starOn the red carpet, This Morning star Holly Willoughby walked alone. She looked incredible in a purple dress, but did not arrive with either Alison Hammond or Dermot O'Leary. Sources have claimed the invites had been slimmed down for the show.
"People are upset at the slimming down as the show is such a group effort and the awards are usually a big night out for the whole team. They’re blaming the cost-of-living crisis but seem to be splashing the cash elsewhere. It doesn’t help to shut down rumours of a toxic atmosphere," a TV source claimed on Sunday as This Morning hope to win the Best Daytime Show award.
The first award was given out to Gogglebox, who triumphed in The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award. The much-loved Channel 4 show won over Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! And The Masked Singer to be crowned the winners. As he accepted the award, Lee Riley paid tribute to his co-stars who have passed away. Happy Valley also won Best Returning Drama, beating the likes of Call the Midwife, Stranger Things and Vera.
