Ten years without answers aboutthe doomed MH370 flight has lead conspiracy theorists to offer wild theories on what happened to the cursed aircraft.

On March 8, 2014, a Malaysia Airlines plane carrying 239 people took off from Kuala Lumpur headed to Beijing, but mysteriously vanished while being handed over from Malaysian to Vietnamese air-traffic control when the transponder, which pins the aircraft's location, shut down.

The flight failed to reach its destination and the passengers' families have not heard anything from their loved ones 10 years on.Hard evidence includes three pieces of wreckage thought to have come from the plane found as far north as Tanzania and as far south as South Africa.

Investigators have worked extensively since the plane vanished. However, despite releasing a 1,500-page report, they admitted they still cannot say what happened. "In conclusion, the team is unable to determine the real cause for the disappearance of MH370," their 2018 report read. Here are the three wildest theories about what happened to the doomed flight...

A British tech expert claimed to have spotted the aircraft on Google Maps deep in the jungle in Cambodia. Ian Wilson said: "Measuring the Google sighting, you're looking at around 69 metres, but there looks to be a gap between the tail and the back of the plane. It's just slightly bigger, but there's a gap that would probably account for that."

"I was on there [Google Earth], a few hours here, a few hours there. If you added it up I spent hours searching for places a plane could have gone down.

"And in the end, as you can see the place where the plane is. It is literally the greenest, darkest part you can see." The Bureau of Aircraft Investigations Archives, which was responsible for the investigation, said they could not rule out the Google Maps sighting – dating 2018 on Google Earth – being MH370.

Alien abduction

.Perhaps the most unbelievable theory on the list is that UFOs may have been involved in the disappearance of the aircraft. Last month, footage said to be from a satellite showed a cluster of orbs following a plane, which conspiracy theorists said was proof of extra-terrestrial involvement, and even teleportation. In the allegedly "leaked" footage, a plane is seen coming into view by a huge cloud on the left, the Daily Star reports.

As it continues its flight path, a small orb appears from the right and zooms past the craft before going up close near the wings. Soon it is joined by two more orbs and the trio move in circular motion around the entire plane. When the plane approaches the cloud, a strong flash strikes.

The plane, along with the three orbs, disappear in the sky. While some people said the video was fake and created using CGI and 3D animation, others disagreed and analysed the footage in detail. Adding credence to the theory is an article from 2014 from ABC News which reported "three large objects spotted near Malaysian airliner flight path". But according to Newsweek, the clip is not authentic and was taken by a satellite before MH370 took off.

US cover up

If UFOs are too much of a stretch, one investigative journalist believes that US deceit is to blame for the flight's disappearance. Florence de Changy, author of The Disappearing Act: The Impossible Case of MH370, spent seven years researching one of the world's most baffling myseries.

Ms De Changy came to the conclusion that the US Air Force shot the plane down in order to stop a shipment of top-secret "electronic equipment" from reaching Beijing. She claimed that an attempt was made to intercept the plane by jamming the signal.

After failing to re-route its flight path, the US shot the aircraft down, she said. Not only did the US cause the crash, according to Ms de Changy, but their subsequent "cover-up" left families without answers.
