Sofia Richie Grainge is a pro when it comes to securing a chic, slicked back bun that looks effortless, just take one look at her wedding pictures and Instagram page - and you soon find that it's one of her go-to styles. And if you have been trying to perfect this simple bun without looking quite like 'Mrs Trunchbull', a 'drowned squirrel' or 'founding father' (as some of her followers have claimed they did when recreating her look), Sofia has shared just how to do her 'lazy girl' bun - and you wouldn't believe how easy it is to do.

Posting a 'how to' video on her TikTok page, the 25 year-old told her followers: "Alright guys, I just got out of the shower and figured what a perfect opportunity to finally teach - slash - show you guys how I do my sleek bun.

"First I'm gonna start off by saying I really love you guys for thinking this is my chic hairstyle," she said, before correcting her followers: "This is actually my lazy girl hairstyle. I do it all the time because I'm very lazy with my hair."

She went on to explain how, through years of practice, she has concocted a "really easy technique" that her fans were delighted to learn, step by step.

Starting off with detangling spray, Sofia used Unite 7SECONDS Detangler, which is available on Amazon - the model and American socialite then found her "strong centre part" with a pintail comb and separated her hair into two sections, brushing her hair out.

Stating she isn't precious about particular products and can "do this hairstyle with any products", she specified an oil, a lotion and a hair mask are essential - plus you'll need a brush, a comb and three hair bobbles. Doesn't sound too hard, right?

She said: "For me, I need an oil and Oribe lotion, I typically use a lotion, but most importantly any hair mask. Regenerating mask. And I honestly take it through my entire hair."

Explaining why the hair mask is a vital process, she shared that her hair was damaged from hair dye and bleach and "stuck" at shoulder length (something she noticed during the pandemic) but after introducing hairs masks into her life, she's "convinced it's the only reason why my hair length grew lusciously over Covid."

After "lathering" her hair in the Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Prickly Pear Oil, Sofia sectioned her hair into three - two at the front and one at the back. Twisting the front sections and securing at the bottom with a clip, Sofia instructed: "This is the moment where you decide where you want your bun to live. So tonight, I'm going to do a little bit of a higher bun."

Taking her Oribe Matte Waves texture lotion, Sofia coated the top of her head and the under layer of her hair with the palm of her hand and brushed it through, ensuring any lumps and bumps were flattened before "locking that ponytail" with a bobble - she reassured fans that that was the hardest part.

Tackling the front two sections, Sofia brushed the two pieces framing her face "tight" and away and applied lotion to the roots to "seal all these hairs down in the front" before twisting the whole ponytail around until the ends were tucked in and secured the bun with a bobble (that's three bobbles in total!).

"Because it started wet, it is so secured onto your head. It is truly like a helmet without being sticky and hard," she added before popping on more lotion to clear out any fly aways.

Her final touch is oil, which "honestly makes the difference" in smoothing the hair down and creating that sleek shine, to which Sofia used Unite's Blonda Oil.

While Sofia's hair looked positively flawless (and is making us want to immediately try this hairstyle for ourselves, although we definitely won't look as effortless as Sofia), her TikTok fans weren't overly sold on the routine and it brought up a mix of reviews.

While many wrote things like: "Just tried this and i’m so humbled", "So pretty! And the hair mask tip!!! I hate gel so that is freaking brilliant" and "Okay but the hair mask tip is genius???", others were concerned over the fact that Sofia's hair was wet when she was tying it up.

One wrote: "Every hair stylist cringing at the wet hair being tied up," alongside another fan who said: "Ok she looks STUNNING but is anybody else worried about how she does this with wet hair? I mean breakage is so likely to happen."

"Love you girl but do this on dry hair, you will cause breakage," advised a third.
