Holly Willoughby was left struggling to hold back tears as Rob Burrow paid tribute to his "amazing" wife Lindsey, 40, during an appearance on This Morning.

This Morning host Holly and Alison Hammond were joined by former rugby star Rob, his wife and their two daughters Macy, 11, and Maya, eight, on Tuesday. The family were discussing the impact of their documentary Living with MND, which is shortlisted at tonight's National Television Awards. Rob, who was diagnosed with MND in 2019 at age 37, revealed the family have a "no-tear" policy and try to remain as positive as possible while showing others you can live a happy life after an MND diagnosis.

Holly remarked: "I know we have a no-tear policy but in the documentary you did describe [Lindsey] as your superhero and her support and devotion to you has been really important."

"I am amazed by Lindsey, every day," Rob replied. "The documentary isn't really about me, it's about her and it's for everyone who cares for someone. It can be a very dark and lonely place at times but Lindsey always makes me feel like we're carrying on in the most normal way we possibly can. Right at the start I talked about our no tears policy and we've stuck to that as much as we can.

"It's not easy at times but we do our best. She is the best wife and mother anyone could wish for. She didn't sign up for this and yet here she is by my side, day and night, fighting for me. She's stronger than any rugby hero that I've ever played alongside and I'm so lucky to have her."
