EastEnders star Scarlett Alice Johnson waved goodbye to Albert Square 20 years ago as her character Vicki Fowler sought after pastures new.

And within that time, Scarlett has undergone a transformation as she looks completely different from her previous appearance while on the BBC soap – with her short red dyed spiky hair. Her trademark look was completed with crop tops and baggy jeans.

Now, Scarlett is sporting a more chic appearance as she has grown her hair into a shoulder length bob and has golden highlights. Her face is far more sculpted now which is a stark difference to her more youthful look when she was 18 years old in EastEnders. And even her dress style on screen is more sophisticated than before.

The actress, 38, first stepped onto Albert Square in 2003 as the rebellious teen who had fled America, leaving her mum Michelle Fowler behind. But her most gripping storyline was when she fell pregnant after a one night stand with Spencer Moon, Alfie Moon's younger brother.

Even more shocking was when Sharon, who is best friends with Vicki's mum Michelle, offered to buy Vicki's unborn child. Sharon, who believed she was infertile, offered Vicki £10,000 to adopt the baby. But in the end, despite Spencer wanting to step up to the challenge of fatherhood, Vicki opted to terminate the pregnancy - and the pair are meant to be running a bar in Sydney Australia.

Vicki was the result of an affair between Sharon's dad, known as Dirty Den and Michelle Fowler, who at the time was only a teenager. When the storyline first started to unfold, it caused a stir among the viewers as it was hailed as one of the most shocking plot lines. And interest in the storyline gathered pace when Sharon, who was best friends with Michelle, found about her dad's affair and then the pregnancy.

At the time Michelle fell pregnant with Vicki, she was dating a character called Lofty and at first he was led to believe that the baby was his child. The storyline is one that is still popular among the generations as it had so many twist and turns.

After playing Vicki for nearly two years, the star quit the BBC soap towards the end of 2004 to return to the stage and step into the world of film. Since leaving Scarlett's career has continued to grow as she starred in the Channel 4 comedy Pete Versus Life in 2010 and also a few films including Panic Button in 2011 and Adulthood three years earlier.

Scarlett is currently a tutor for up and coming actors who want to develop their art at The Actors Cove, which is a part-time acting and improvisation school. It is believed that she was also a vice principal at the Bethnal Green's branch of the Pauline Quirke Academy, where her husband and fellow actor Sean Michael Verey was the principal. Scarlett and Sean married in 2017 and have one child together.

The couple are both known for their starring roles in BBC Three comedy Pramface, which follows an 18-year-old teenager (Scarlett) who gets pregnant after a one-night stand with a 16-year-old (Sean) and the dynamics of bringing up the child. The comedy lasted for three series between 2012 and 2014 over the course of 19 episodes.
