Two women shot dead outside hospital emergency room in morning attack
Two women have been killed and more wounded in an early morning shooting outside a hospital.
Witnesses said that before 2.30 am on Monday a car pulled up outside University of Alabama Birmingham hospital, with those inside desperately looking for treatment for gunshot injuries.
But as they pleaded for help, a car pulled up behind the SUV and began opening fire. The hail of gunfire broke a hospital window and hit a nearby police car, reports AL.com.
It is believed those injured were shot at a nearby nightclub - the Aria Restaurant and Lounge. The incident is being investigated as a double homicide. Police confirm two women were shot and killed just after 2 am.

Witnesses said they heard multiple shots fired, describing the sounds as “iron pipes hitting,” AL.com reported. Three other people were also injured.

There have been no arrests made and the suspects are still at large.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and established a large crime scene. A cordon was set up and the hospital was placed on lockdown.

As news of the shooting spread, friends and family of the victims turned up at the hospital. They told AL they struggled to get information about what had happened.
At around 5.30 am, some were told their loved one had died and became visibly distraught.
