Morrisons selling mince pies and Christmas puddings as UK heads into heatwave

Morrisons has started to sell festive favourites such as mince pies and Christmas puddings just as the UK heads into a late summer heatwave
The supermarket chain shared an image from a shopper who had spotted an entire aisle of Christmas treats in their local store. This included Morrisons "The Best" mince pies, boxes of Quality Street, Celebrations and Roses, Christmas puddings and festive biscuits. Morrisons reshared the image and commented: "Mince Pie season is upon us..."
One shopper shared an image of the festive part from their local store highlighting that Morrisons was also selling suncream on the same aisle. Another shared that they picked up a box of six Morrisons shortcrust mince pies at 7:30 that morning costing £1.45.
Christmas Day is currently 112 days away - or 16 weeks - and some shoppers were on board with the early start saying that this would help with spreading the cost whilst others were not as happy. One shopper thought it was "ridiculous" as the summer hadn't ended just yet.
On X (formally Twitter) user @shootergirl81 said: "Eurgghh I hate this! Anything Christmassy should be banned until the 1 December!" and another user @chunksnanna added: "Mmm I love a nice mince pie after my Sunday lunch. Thank you Morrisons!".

The main reason for shopper's confusion and frustration was that the UK is set to experience a heatwave over the next week with temperatures reaching as high as 30C.

Morrisons is not the only UK supermarket chain that has started to stock festive favourites early. Last month, shoppers spotted mulled wine and chocolate tubs stocked on the shelves in Marks and Spencer and Tesco. Cadbury's Snowballs were even seen at Asda stores. Again, a large number of shoppers weren’t too impressed with the premature arrival of Christmas at the time.
Morrisons has defended its decision to sell the festive treats early with a spokesperson for the supermarket telling The Mirror: “We don’t sell mince pies all year round but we do start selling them a few months before Christmas because our customers tell us they really enjoy them.”
