Corsair HS65 Wireless review – a simple budget-friendly headset
The Corsair HS65 Wireless doesn't boast the fanciest of features, they're pretty basic in fact, but the way it delivers those features more than justifies its lower price point.
The headset features surround sound and a flip-to-mute microphone, whilst being impressively comfortable and lightweight. You also get controls on your earcups and 24 hours of battery life, with fast-charging batteries. This is a great device, but it's pretty plain and simple, so if you're looking for something flashy with loads of features, then won't be the headset for you. But, if you're just after something budget-friendly and reliable, then the Corsair HS65 Wireless could be a great option.
The Corsair HS65 Wireless comes in at just £119.99 / $119.99 / AU$229, which is relatively cheap for a wireless gaming headset. The SteelSeries Arctis 7 Wireless, which is similar in terms of features on offer comes in at £139.99 / $179.99 / AU$309. However, it weighs a whopping 423 grams, meaning you're actually spending more to sacrifice comfort. The Logitech G PRO X gaming headset comes in at the same price of £119.99 / $129 / AU$177, and actually has identical features, but is wired rather than wireless, showing just how much bang for your buck you're getting here.
Corsair HS65 Wireless Design
The design of the Corsair HS65 Wireless is pretty sleek, we tested the white edition but it also comes in black, if that's more your style. You'll find a thin but respectable amount of comfortable memory foam in the earcups, which are light grey on the white headset, so you don't have to worry about them getting dirty. The headband is made from a matching memory foam material and provides just the right amount of support.

The headset is particularly lightweight, coming in at just 275 grams. For comparison, the Roccat Syn Max Air, which also claims to be lightweight, comes in at just under 400 grams with the microphone attached.

You'll find controls on the earcup, including a mic mute button, volume control wheel, power button and Bluetooth button to switch between connection modes.
Corsair HS65 Wireless Features
One of the perks of this headset is the fact that it features surround sound. You can also fully customise all of your sound settings using the Corsair CUE software, including the levels of bass. This also allows you to save profiles if you'd like different settings for different games or if you share the headset with multiple people.
You get two options for connectivity with the Corsair HS65 Wireless, 2.4 GHz wireless (using a USB receiver) and Bluetooth. You can switch between the two modes using the button on your earcup. Compatibility includes PC, Mobile, PS4 and PS5, but not Xbox consoles, which have their own wireless standard.
This headset boasts a battery life of 24 hours, which rang true during my testing. However, what was more impressive was how fast it charged. With just 15 mins of charging, you can get six hours of usage out of the headset, now that's a nice feature.
Corsair HS65 Wireless Performance
One of, if not the, most important aspects of evaluating a headset is its comfort. If you're unable to wear a headset for a long period of time, then it doesn't matter how flashy it is or how many features it has. Thankfully, this device is one of the most comfortable I've worn. I often forgot I even had it on, it was just that comfortable. But despite this, it still felt pretty durable.

It was good enough to deliver some form of directional audio, which is useful for competitive gaming, but it didn't entirely immerse me. When playing cinematic single-player story games, that you really want to get lost in, it doesn't quite hit the mark.
You won't find many flashy features on this headset, but this is to be expected for the price. For example, I'm a big fan of RGB and not having any on my headset, especially as a content creator and streamer, made me feel a little bare.
Final thoughts on the Corsair HS65 Wireless
Overall, this is a great wireless headset, especially for the price. It presents good enough surround sound and great battery life, including a fast charge which is about as much as you can ask for in terms of reliability. Comfort-wise, it is one of the most comfortable headsets I have ever used and was lightweight enough for me to forget I was using it at times.
However, this headset doesn't really present those flashy features which are on offer with most gaming headsets. If you're not phased by the lack of features and just want a comfortable and reliable wireless gaming headset, then the Corsair HS65 is a great option, especially considering the cost.
