Piers Morgan had a ‘religious experience’ while watching Arsenal play on Sunday with his son, Spencer.

The 58-year-old broadcaster was one of the thousands in the crowds at Emirates stadium on Sunday and was joined by 30-year-old Spencer to watch the Gunners take on Manchester United. The team won the match three goals to one - with Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus all scoring for Arsenal.

Marcus Rashford scored the sole goal for Man United. Piers clearly had a delightful time watching all of the action from the energy filled stadium - and documented his afternoon via social media.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Piers shared a snap of himself alongside his son and added the simple caption: “Game day.” While Piers wore a plain polo shirt and some simple jeans, Spencer made his sporting commitments clear as he posed in an Arsenal top.

Uploading the snap to Instagram Stories, the former Good Morning Britain star wrote: “Jesus scored.. our saviour Rice did too… and Pope was there to celebrate. Arsenal’s win was a religious experience today.” He posed alongside cricket star Ollie Pope, 25, as he shared the update. Meanwhile, Spencer also had a pleasurable afternoon.

He got backstage after the game and cosied up to Declan for a photo. Sharing his snap on Instagram, the long haired lad wrote: “Pleasure to present this king with his man of the match award. Hope the man united fans enjoy their journey back… to London. Destiny 2.0 continues.”

Declan himself seemed pretty chuffed by the afternoons events and celebrated via his own Instagram page. The sportsman shared a snap of himself on the pitch and asked the simple question in his caption: “Are you not entertained.” He also shared a snap of his Player of the Match award and wrote alongside it: “Another one. What a win. What a day.”

Rio Ferdinand has recently backed Arsenal to do well this season, telling TNT Sports: "Arsenal were brilliant last season, Mikel Arteta was magnificent, the recruitment again has been wonderful.

“They've arguably had one of the best strongest transfer windows up to this point. Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, Kai Havertz, [David Raya] definitely strengthened the squad, the depth, the quality.” However the footy legend did warn: “I think they’ll be top three this year, they won’t win the league though."
