King Charles has been given the thumbs up by the majority of Brits for his performance since taking the throne according to results of a new study – but it's not good news for Prince William.

A survey carried out by Prospectus Global asked 2,011 Brits across the UK their thoughts on the monarchy since the Queen's death in September last year. More than half of them – 1,046 or 52 per cent – confirmed they believed Charles was doing a good job wearing the crown.

When asked if Charles should step aside to let Prince William take the throne, 45 per cent said yes, with the majority wanted King Charles to remain in place. In fact, only 5% of those asked said they had no interest in the Coronation when Charles was crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6 2023.

Elsewhere, it was good news for Kate Middleton, who scooped the coveted crown of "most popular royal" with 29 per cent of the vote. William came second on 19%, with Harry in third (17 per cent) and Meghan Markle way back in sixth with just 5 per cent of the vote. The survey was carried out on behalf of The Sun on Sunday.

Last week, the Mirror exclusively reported how The King overruled Prince William by ordering the family to fall in line in welcoming the disgraced Duke of York back into the family fold.

The monarch has made it clear to the senior royals that Prince Andrew would not be shut out any longer and suggested the Prince of Wales would be the one to drive him to church in Scotland last Sunday, sources have revealed. His appearance alongside the future king and queen, while knowing they would all be photographed, has been seen as a major boost in the York camp towards the Duke’s rehabilitation.

One Balmoral insider suggested there had been some confusion over how Andrew, 63, would be travelling to church until he received a call on Sunday morning prior to going. After the public declaration of support from William and Kate, with Andrew riding in the car to and from the service in Balmoral where the royals are on holiday, one source said: “It’s more than he (Andrew) could have wished for.”
