EastEnders' Jay star teases upcoming storyline which he pitched to soap boss

EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick has teased an upcoming storyline for his character Jay Brown following the tragic death of the car lot owner's wife Lola Pearce.

Grieving Jay hasn't appeared much on screens since the death of Lola following her brain cancer diagnosis in May. A heartbroken Jay was then seen saying goodbye to Lola amongst her family, friends and Albert Square residents at her funeral.

Since Lola was laid to rest not much has been seen of Jay, who has moved in with Ben and Callum alongside his newly-adopted daughter Lexi. But Jay actor Jamie, 29, has suggested that could be about to change, following a text conversation with the soap's boss Chris Clenshaw, who is EastEnders' executive producer.

Jamie told Inside Soap magazine: "Until recently I've never gone out of my way to seriously suggest a storyline to the writers.

"I'll always drop a bit of banter, but just the other day, for the first time, I did actually text Chris Clenshaw," he said. "A seed was planted, it wasn't pooh-poohed, so watch this space!

It comes as EastEnders fans saw the drama unfold following Cindy Beale's dramatic return to Walford after decades away this week. After living in France with Ian Beale and her son Peter Beale, Cindy travelled to Albert Square to follow her son, who turned up in the East End last week.

Ian desperately followed Cindy in the hopes to convince her to return to France to enjoy their quiet life before she bumps into her ex husband George Knight and two daughters Anna and Gina. However, just before he convinced her to get into the awaiting black taxi George walks out of the Queen Vic pub and a stunned Cindy recognises him.

The dramatic events meant Cindy (known as Rose by George and their daughters) was reunited with George, Anna and Gina but faced a lot of anger and questions as she tried to explain why she left them nine years ago – as fans discover the heartbreaking link to Rose's deserting her family in Marbella and Lucy Beale's murder nine years ago.

As fans watched the dramatic events unfold, which was marred with more heartache following a brief cameo from the now-dead Fatboy, many were left speechless. But some eagle-eyed soap fans have looked back to a scene on the soap from 2007, which proved Cindy was always alive. Lucy and Peter had been chatting with their brother Steven Beale, when Lucy rumbled Cindy's true whereabouts.

Lucy Beale was seen telling her brothers: "Well I thought, with you being back, she could be alive. Maybe she had to go into hiding." Peter then chimed in to say: "Dad wouldn't have lied to us," as Lucy theorised: "Maybe that's what he was told as well, but just think about it - she could be out there waiting for us," as Stephen questioned if that's what she wanted. Before she was able to answer, Jane arrived and told them all to come back to the house as she had a "surprise".
