Gabby Logan says husband Kenny 'emotional' after cancer fight and losing 2 pals
Gabby Logan has spoken of her family's challenging year due to husband Kenny 's prostate cancer and the deaths of his two best pals.
Kenny, 50, revealed last September he had been treated for the disease. In November his friend and former Scotland rugby international Doddie Weir passed away after a battle with motor neurone disease at 52.
Gabby said: "He's had a really emotional year.
"In lots of ways Doddie's death has been harder for Kenny than going through his own prostate cancer. He spent a lot of time and energy helping Doddie.
"Last March, Kenny also lost another friend to cancer who played in the same team. He's had a lot of challenges this year at a time when I’ve been super-busy."
Kevin Sinfield goes extra mile for MND sufferers as he brings hope to Rob BurrowBut Gabby revealed former rugby star Kenny was "really glad he spoke out about his prostate cancer".
The TV presenter added: "He's had so many lovely messages and a lot of women with partners going through it have contacted me. For a lot of men, it’s hard to imagine what's going to happen."
On a more upbeat note, mum-of-two Gabby told in an interview with woman&home how reaching 50 in April is no reason for her to slow down.
She said: "My 30s and 40s flew by, it's a bit scary to be entering another decade. That's more worrying than the actual number. Turning 50 is not what it was.
"Thirty years ago, at this age, you'd be looking forward to early retirement and wearing elasticated waistbands and beige trousers. Women at 50 felt past it. There's a lot more I want to do in telly, with my podcast, and now I've written one book. I want to do more."
The April issue of woman&home is on sale Thursday, March 2.
