Helen Flanagan shares the realities of dating as a single mum after Scott split
Helen Flanagan got candid about dating as a single mother earlier this week after her shocking split from Scott Sinclair.
The former Coronation Street actress, 33, shares Charlie and daughters Matilda and Delilah with her ex and former Aston Villa star Scott, 34. The two first got together when she was 19 years old but made the difficult decision to part ways in July last year after almost 15 years.
In a new TikTok video, Helen opened up about her relationship with Scott as well as what it's like to date as a single mother. She explained that the two briefly broke up when she was 22 years old but were back together six months later. Shortly after, she fell pregnant with Matilda.
After providing context on their relationship, she went on to reveal she didn't start dating until nine months after the split. Although she didn't mention the name, Helen said she signed up for a celebrity dating app after a trip to Paris with her close friend and her children.
"It's really weird when you start dating and you've been with someone for 13 years," she said. "And you're totally out of touch... Like, the last time I had been on a date I was 19 years old." Helen confessed she's not "experienced" with being around men as she's a "girl's girl" and spends time with them and her gay friends.
Helen Flanagan 'has her confidence back' in before and after boob job photosWhen setting up her profile, she even used a photo from a past pregnancy shoot, which she and her friends thought was hilarious. Helen went on to discuss her experience dating using the app and discussed a person she had a "really good connection" with. "He made me feel really beautiful. He made me feel confident and it was really nice but it wasn't just that as we also had a really great connection and we've become really good friends which is nice," she said.
Helen then asked fans where she was meant to meet potential romantic partners as she's a mum who spends time at home and picking up the kids from school. Speaking about the "daunting" feeling of her first date after the split, she added: "I did feel like it was too soon. I did find dating really weird after being with Scott for so long. I just felt a bit awkward. I found it quite daunting."
The TV star said men tend to get "confused" when they date single mothers, revealing: "I am not looking for a relationship. I don't want one because I was in one for such a long time. I don't want to be someone's wifey. I'm trying to find myself and I'm concentrating on my work and my kids, what I want to do. Also, I work on social media... I don't want a serious relationship because I'm not ready for that. I wouldn't be able to share my life because my life is with my kids and myself, but obviously, I'm not dead."
