Love Island's Millie and Liam share why they split and how they rekindled love

Millie Court and Liam Reardon have finally revealed why they split last year and what it was that brought their love back together.

The Love Island stars were crowned champions of the ITV dating show in 2021 and moved quickly towards building a life together, even buying their own £1 million mansion in Essex. However, the couple sent shockwaves last summer when they broke up leaving shocked Love Island fans speculating that the relationship had ended because of Liam's infidelity.

Millie, 26, swiftly slammed the rumours as untrue, insisting that 'no-one cheated' and that they had simply decided their romance 'wasn't right for us.' The blonde beauty has since confirmed she and Liam have reconciled, as she took to Instagram over the weekend to share adorable photos of the pair living it up at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth.

After giving things another go and keeping their romance a secret for months on end, the lovebirds have now confirmed that their relationship is now 'better than ever'.

Speaking to Mail Online, Millie admitted that because her split with Liam was 'never bitter' - with the pair ending on amicable terms - she felt that the door was always left open for them to get back together.

"It didn't end sourly, it wasn't that kind of breakup. It was a decision that we needed a break. I think we both knew it wasn't going to be something that ended forever. I think we knew it was something we wanted to revisit but it was time that we needed. We managed to make it work again and now it's better than ever," Millie revealed.

The YouTube star also hinted that their age gap was a factor in their breakup, given that Millie over three years older than Liam. However, now that they have both matured some more, the timing feels right for them. After rekindling their romance, Millie and Liam made the decision to keep their relationship secret after confessing that public scrutiny was a part of the reason why they split in the first place as all eyes were on them after winning Love Island.

"People have private lives and can't put everything on social media. And we were on the building blocks of our relationship together. We went our separate ways last year and that was partly because so many people felt like they were involved in our relationship and stuck their noses in," Liam explained.

After making their relationship official for the second time around on Instagram last week, fans of Millie and Liam couldn't hide their excitement as they flocked to gush over the happy news. "YAYYYYYYY BACK TOGETHER!!!!!! Soooooo happy to see this post!!!!!!!" one ecstatic person commented, while another approving follower, "Love this, so glad you two are back together."

Chloe Burrows, who appeared alongside Liam and Millie on the ITV series in 2021, also acknowledged the post, writing, "Mum and Dad." Speculation that Millie and Liam had reunited first erupted in May, when the couple were spotted kissing in the airport of Barcelona. The photos emerged after they enjoyed a week-long cruise on the Mediterranean, which included an overnight stay on the idyllic island of Ibiza.
